I wouldn’t call a direct indictment a short cut. It happens now and then, nothing new.

There used to be a TV show called North of 60. It was filmed in Bragg creek and Calgary back in the 90 s. The Natives all though they didn't call themselves natives then used to make remarks about metis and whites that agreed with what you said.
Haha didn't bother me. I still loved that show. Part of the movie town is still there. The rest got washed away in the flood. We go up there and visit it about every ten years.
Anyway if we were all just Canadians with the same rights everybody wouldn't be so on edge about everything.
I'm not trying to make anybody angry or feel bad.

I went to Jr high with Dakota House (TV I think his name was on the show?)
And his little brother Delaney House.
The three of us got caught smoking by the principal in grade 8. Funny since I absolutely despise smoke my whole adult life.
Just curious, when does the trial start and does anyone know if there is a publication ban? Or has it not been determined yet?
Wounder if we will get JUST the facts, and not the usual garbage MSM spin?
I'm not holding my breath..

A book has many chapters, guess this is one of them.
I hope the outcome is true and same for each, time will tell.

Dakota House is lucky to be alive. So many others in that show are dead.I dont remember there real names. Show names of the ones that died in real life that I know of are joey,Albert,Joe,Rosy and Michelle daughter who I can't remember her name right now but man thats a high mortality rate for a small cast.

I assumed the fast track is from an overwhelming amount of evidence that the crown has so why waste time?
The public wont be hearing much with the publication ban.

A publication ban is where there is something to hide and only the privileged can handle the truth.

It will most likely be a jury trial. So the publication ban at this point is to limit the amount of potential jurors that would be influenced by media reports.
If I was guessing.....

It will be hard to find a unbiased jury one way or the other, so much on the news already and everyone has an opinion.

When selecting a jury everyone wants the potential jurors to come without preconceived ideas about the parties involved. If a jury member remembers only what the crown said the bail hearing then they may not judge the trial on the facts of the case but what global news chose to include in an article months ago.

Not at all. No facts were decided yet so nothing for the public to know yet.

Your right all the racists formed an opinion that the metis hunters were committing a crime. Good thing the police have stated that wasnt the case.

The police also stated that racism wasn’t a factor but a bunch of people on the other side hopped on board the racism train. What do you do?
I’ll wait for the trial to be done.

That's not fair. Thats like saying the police are all racist because they arrest to many black people.
You know a lot of people who know nothing about what happened are already thinking there won't be a fair trial. White guy shoots Metis= white guy goes to jail.
When you have different groups with different rights and some more Canadian than other it creates this mess. Its kind of irritating when the pot calls the kettle black.

Agree with W921's post above.
"I assumed the fast track is from an overwhelming amount of evidence that the crown has so why waste time?"
The "fast track" is happening due to the televised court house demonstrations and the Metis Nation of Alberta getting involved in the case, the media is all over it. Don't agree with the publication ban-it might have to do with the potential jurors but it also might have to do with keeping controversial info out of the public eye too. The RCMP wants to put this case behind them, the accused are going to have a very difficult time getting a fair trial especially if it is "fast tracked" IMO.....

I know your joking but back in the day in Alberta it didn't matter the circumstances if a rancher, homesteader shot a native, the NWMP would have had that person end up hanging from a rope.
American history is different than ours. I know in schools some of the teachers get the two mixed up. Best example was teachers taking pictures from the American south during segregation and showing my kids how people were treated in Canada.

Not just a simple somebody murdered somebody case, serious political implications here they don't want to face, that could be embarrassing.

It used to be half breed. I believe Métis is the politically correct word. I’m pretty sure. I think.... yeah I don’t know anymore lol

Wouldn't it be great if there was a trial with the sole intention of determining what actually happened, and the guilt or innocence of the accused? Unfortunately, this is Canada, that will never happen, with so many opportunities to bring politics, political correctness, and virtue signaling into this.

Yup but “fast tracking” the case may possibly stop those implications from happening or being heard. There’s no such thing as the truth in court cases anymore, just what current agenda needs to be satisfied.....
