Default if you had to choose 270 or 6.5 Creedmoor

So you just won an awesome rifle your favorite brand and you have to pick a 6.5 CM or a .270 (6.8-06) which would you take

I would take the 6.5CM, and sell it.

I’d sell it, because raffle rifles are never offered up as a left handed model.

The 6.5 isnt magic. It's just good.

The .270 can handle anything around here too.

As long as whatever you choose is accurate.

Some guys say a 270 with a 130 grain bullet is too small for moose or elk too. No functional hunting difference to speak of really. Animals all lay over and die when blood pressure drops or the central nervous system is obliterated.

While the 30-06 might be the most versitile cartridge, IM0 a good 150 grain .270 load is the single most versitile, commonly available factory load. A tough 130 grain load is almost as good... I'd take the .270.

Can you grow a decent man bun? I think that would be an important factor.

270.
Why?
Because it was cool way before the 6.5CM.

This. Us lefties are all discriminated against. I’ve never ever seen a left handed rifle raffled off. If I had to pick one though it would be the CM. Probably an easier sell.

No need to grow one. Just wear this one while out and about with your CM.
Added bonus of keeping the sun out of your eyes while shooting

But if not I am going 270 because I don’t look good in a man bun and my wife has enough purses

I'm left handed as well. I wish raffles were for vouchers at gun stores or vouchers from gun companies. Pick your own gun or whatever.

Default My Choice

My choice is based on usage. I shoot targets at ranges up to and over 500m. Therefore my choice is the 6.5 Creed.

I am just happy that I still have enough hair that if I wanted I could do a man bun!

Did you guys know that silver gray man buns are all the rage right now?

Dang I'd need the one that MountainTi posted. I have a bald spot right where the bun goes.

I agree that the rifles in the raffles are not usually the ones that we're wanting. I don't have a 270, or a 6.5 CM. But I wouldn't mind trying them both out. And then deciding after that if I'd sell it or keep it. But for choosing between the two, myself I'd probably pick the 270.

If the 150gr is a Nosler Partition, I agree 100%.

6.5 would be my choice because my favorite rifle doesn't come in either caliber! As others have said, take it and sell it. 6.5 is the flavor of the day so take the one most likely to sell.

It would all depends on which rifle " looked better" for resale.

I have harvested 17 animals from a 270win . No complaints. Just no bang flops.

1 of those is an elk and 4 are moose.

I prefer the 300 and 338 mags myself for everything.. not needed but. I choose to.

Without hesitation.... 270...

Not only cause i grew up cutting my teeth with one or own one now, but also that you can upgrade to 270 weatherby and be the best on the block!!

But also i can't grow a man bun so I'm out of that fad...

Ditto. I shoot left side as well. Plus neither would be my first choice!

I prefer speed for a smaller caliber hunting rifle. I'd choose the 270. Not that either of them are particularly small calibers.

Went with the .270 none of the above wasn't an option

Grew up reading Jack O'Connor books .270 was the flavour of the day back then, I've learned since that where you hit an animal is more important than what you hit them with.

That’s for sure.

Both of these are good rounds.

6.5 CM, just because as much as you guys don't want to admit it, it is a better round than the 270.

Its easier to knock the man bun then to admit defeat, but we all know the 6.5 is where its at.

they are both great calibers but i would choose the 270 because i shot 1 for years and all it ever did was kill everything that i pointed it at.

So you're saying shot placement matters? Interesting.
But seriously, it's the most important factor.

I said this same thing to someone today. Anything the 270 gets pointed at dies.
