Hrlackay.
Those groups would be the end user.
In order for this program to work, we need multiple places to drop off the carcasses, then we need multiple butchers who will chop it up..
People behind bars might not be a bad idea. Perhaps a bit of re training for them.

The program at Wainwright is funded by those blasphemers at APOS if I remember correctly.

You just might want to watch out which ones you give the carving knives too

Knowing 209 as a I do, I'm guessing that was meant with tongue in cheek in response to the views of some on here about APOS and outfitters.....

You can relax Jamie.....lol

Jamie,
You could always make a thread and see who would donate to APOS to support the foodbank program......heh.....THAT would be a fun thread to watch......

I considered donating, but there aren't any drop-off places near where I typically hunt (and you need to get the meat there within a limited period of time...)

If there were more drop-off places, I would definitely be more likely do donate meat. Whether I would be willing to pay a lot extra for that on a per-tag basis, I am not sure...

Yep Sheep has it straight, it was tongue-in-cheek. So many rage against APOS when they actually fund some very good projects such as paying for all the costs to donate the deer at Wainwright.

Default food bank

The program is a collabration of partners. APOS is just one part of the program.

Here is the info off the hunting for tomorrow website about the hunters who care program.

"Representatives from the Alberta Government, Edmonton Foodbank, and several hunting organizations (Alberta Professional Outfitters Society, Alberta Fish & Game Association, Alberta Bowhunting Association, Safari Club International and the Alberta Conservation Association) are members of a leadership team that oversee this successful program.

The program receives no government funding. The hunters donate their time, meat and tag cost to this project. The meat processing costs are paid for by donations and grants from hunting organizations. The Alberta Conservation Association is a major sponsor."

The trailer is just parked at the base during the base hunt because the base can provide a safe spot to park it to help the hunters with a central spot. I do know last year APOS provided some extra money to continue the program with the CWD season.

Thumbs up Good Idea!

I would gladly support this. Every year I am begged to shoot more deer and evry year I have to say no Because I can't eat it all or give it away.
