A lot of fishermen use all types of rod and real set ups when using a downrigging or for jigging for lakers at Cold lake so please vote and by all means leave a comment what brands you use.

We use custom Gblanks 7’10 heavy flippin rods with either a shimano Calais reel or a Daiwa cv-z253 millionaire for jigging. Combo has handled Lakers in the mid 40’s with ease , great combination of sensitivity and strength

I've only fished for lake trout in the Spring when they're closer to the surface. We use spinning reels and sometimes baitcasters (level winds).

The fish we catch are generally smaller than mentioned above.

I was interested to see spincast reels in this poll for deep fishing because I don't know anyone who uses them when the fish are in 20' or so in May and June. Guess I need to get out more, and more later in the year.

If I knew a bit more about deep-water fishing I should have picked that up myself. Never tried it but maybe it's something I should do.
