Default Arrow Length Question?

I'm new to archery and am wondering if there is a disadvantage to shooting full length (Uncut) arrows. Is it OK to just glue in the inserts and get at 'er.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Check your arrow spine.......correct arrow spine is derivied from the DW of the bow, the length of the arrow and the weight of the tip (other stuff too - mechanical release, if used and cam design). The longer the arrow the more deflection it has (reacts weaker than a shorter arrow).

Aside from that there is nothing wrong with shooting full length arrows. Everything else is cosmetics....but longer arrows tend to run afoul of brush and stuff too i.e., when you're moving with a knocked arrow/laying the bow down.

It is always best to cut the arrows to a defined length. The most common method is cutting the arrows 1" past the arrow rest when you draw the bow back .

Balance - it's all about balance!
As ehntr stated, the arrow spine is affected by weight and length of the arrow.
if you automaticly cut an arrow to 29" when your bow is spined for the same spine of arrow at 27", you are going to have a problem - MAYBE.
The arrow must be shot to find out.
My arrows are super heavy for my bow, but the spine is correct.
They are also on the longish side, but they fly great so I don't worry about it.
