Default Wild Boar Roadkill Down South

Heading back from a couple days chasing mulies along rivers down south I came across a piglet roadkill on the road. Asking around I learned that no landowner within 20 clicks kept pigs and after looking noticed the hog had dark fur that was long and coarse. Does that sound like a wild boar, or is it a case of charlottes web not looking both ways before crossing the countryside.

Default Wild boar roadkill

A buddy of mine saw a full grown wild boar dead on the highway west of Sylvan Lake about a week ago. He said it was a huge black boar with big tusks. Thought it was a dead moose when he first saw it from a distance.

Default they exist!

I get a few on camera every year, they are very smart, hard to target. I've killed a few over the years. Usually a fluke when I get one, tried to target them and they are super smart and learn quickly.

Busted a couple up yesterday while walking and calling for elk, heard them squeal and then got quiet, thinking less than 100 yards away. can fool their eyes, but not their noses.

Good luck, they go nocturnal at the first gun shot.

I saw the same boar on Friday night alive. He was in a farmers field when the farmer started to swath his field. Must have been scared out to the highway. I feel for the person that hit it, it was a big pig. I thought it was a calf until I got a good look at it.
