Default Caught Another Melanistic Coyote

Nice surprise doing my checks today. Another Melanistic Coyote......Are you kidding me?

I guess that I have a knack for black.

If any licensed furbuyers are interested in buying it whole for taxidermy shoot me a PM.

Should get the white one you posted and the black one rugged. It's just a black and white decision.

Way to go Davey! You're my AO hero!!

You should sell it to the white coyote guy! That would be quite the pair alright.

So Dave, I have to ask, do you think the reason these bizarre coyotes are getting caught has anything to do with the super duper blood curdling wolf killer super super moon last night???

like really...

Obviously the catching is much better when the moon is SUPER!!!

I think it is because they can see the spot where their heads are s'possed to go better.

I’ve never seen one in the wild either except in my snares. I caught my first last January and this one today. I have a better chance of catching a black yote than I do a Pale around here.

Nice catch. I agree that the black coyote needs to get together with the recently caught white coyote for a full body mount of them yodeling at a red moon.

Hmm.. wondering if the white and black coyotes are the pure genetics of the coloration of the typical coyote colors we see. A pale under coat with black guard hairs. A while female and a black male makes the grey/pale common coyote. (satire or not)

I suppose that you could say that they are rare, they certainly aren’t very common. I caught one last January and this one this January. I think that happening might be pretty rare.

I’m thinking that the pups would have stripes like zebras.

The fur is good but the guard hair along the back isn't as long and heavy as a normal coyote is. The guard hair on the sides aren't totally black so it's a little deceiving. It's pretty much the same as this one I caught last January so I guess that's how they come.

I've seen a lot of coyotes in my lifetime and seen a couple that I thought were pretty dark. But I haven't seen anything like that. Thanks for sharing.
