Default Cutbank at Slave?

Has anybody been out to the cutback at Slave? Buddies are going up this weekend to stay in one of the rental shacks. Wondering how access is, and if the fish are biting. Thanks, have a great weekend.

Can be hot and cold there but in winter I consider it garbage. So many shacks and fishing can be slooooow. nice thing about weekends like this though is you can go out and punch you own holes until you find a better spot than where your shack is at because when its -30 and you're stuck inside a shack where there is no fish, its pretty brutal. IMO there are way better spots to fish at on Slave, at least for ice fishing.

We've been there a couple times in March and have had some success both trips but some slow times for sure. The first year we stayed pretty stationary and the bite came and went. One day the fish didn't start biting until a half hour past dark and the only thing they seemed to like in our setup was minnows on a bare hook under a jawjacker.

Last trip it was pretty slow right by the drop off but a completely different story out maybe 100-200 yards in front on the flat. Drilled a pile of holes and jumped a long with a walleye rod and a perch rod picking fish up along the way. Once we fished every hole it was time to go back to the first one and start over. Not everyones cup of tea but it seemed to work for us.

Ouch hopefully it picks up. Plan on being there around the 17th or so of March for 4 or 5 days.

We were at cut bank Friday till Sunday. Caught 4 pike 4 walleye. Never left the shack was windy. Missed maybe a dozen bites. They were bitting very soft. Marked more fish then I ever have. But couldn’t get them to bite tried everything I had. Straight hook with minnow is only thing that caught.
