Has anyone fished Carson lately? How's fishing, how deep is the snow.

I was there last Sunday. A few bites, one small rainbow and 2 suckers. 6-8" of snow with a hard crust on to. We had no problem with 4wd. No real main track heading down the lake. Car would have problems for sure.

Just wondering what the fishing is like generally at Carson these days. I always considering Carson to be a top stocked rainbow lake. Has it changed over the last couple of years? I am not much about it these days. I think I saw that they still stock it.
thanks.

All potholes likely took a hit with concerns around whirling disease.

We fished carson lake on Feb 16, probably 16 to 18 inches of snow on the ice with 3 to 4 inches of flood water, very hard going even with snowmobile and toboggan. Fish were btiing decent, we caught our limit, with the biggest being 17". most everyone fishing within 100 yrds of the main boat launch.

Got out to Carson for the first time ever Saturday. Conditions the same as the previous post. 8 inches of snow on top of 4 inches of slush and flood water. Walked out from boat launch a couple of hundred meters. Landed one smallish rainbow, a few more seen on camera , was very slow but it was from 10-3pm. The tent was really rocking in 40+k winds, only had 5 ice screws, needed 8. Looks like a great campground.

2 of us fished again on Sunday, caught 5 between the 2 of us. I caught a nice fat 16" female. Was much slower than the previous Sunday. All in all it was a beautiful day to be on the hardwater rather than doing the Honey-Do list! only a couple inches flood water where we were, the previous weekend in same spot was 3 to 4 inches of flood water.
