Be prepared for some recoil, that is a very light rifle , for that clambering.

I would look for whatever load generates the lightest recoil. May also look into a decelerator recoil pad.

Did not have the super light but the t3 light a few years ago in 7 rem mag.
I felt that a Simms recoil pad tamed it very well. It changes the punch to a push especially on a light rifle. It should shoot well
7 rem mag I used nosler partitions 160?
Can’t remember but good hunting accuracy
Actually blue box power points were quite accurate but I did not trust them to hold together at high velocity and short range impacts
Try a few different offerings
Lighter bonded or solids
Or heavier cup and core

The limbsaver air tech works awesome. I put one on my 300wm t3x.

Very bearable recoil

I have a limited saver on my 338 T3 lite.
Recoil is very manageable but I keep that to myself.
Keeps the snowflakes from asking to borrow it.

nice rifle. Glad you got it on sale. That model has been on and off sale for a bit now. Good deal !

I would start in the 140gr and move up to 160's and see what it likes.

Yes you did use Nosler Partitions 160 grain. I continued to use the same in the Tikka I bought from you. Very accurate rifle and the Limbsaver I put on it tamed most of the recoil.

I have a Superlite in .270 and put an aftermarket Bell and Carlson stock on it, which really helped with recoil. Tikkas (and i have had more than a few) are typically great shooters and not overly fussy. If you reload start with the recommended powders and bullet combinations for the manufacturer of choice and it will not take long to find what you are looking for.

How light is it? My sako Grey Wolf 7MM Rem Mag is just over 9 lbs with the scope. Very light recoil.

I used to shoot a 338-378 unbraked on everything and wanted a super lite gun so I bought a superlite in 300wsm. Took it out of box and shot it and it rattled my brain. Thought wtf did I buy. Put a limbsaver pad on it and scope and it's not horrible now,but not fun. Total different recoil its sharp and hard.

Tikka claims 5.8lbs, so under 7lbs with a light scope. That 2bs difference will make a huge difference.

Just put a limbsaver on it and don’t worry about the recoil. It’s just a 7mm mag, seriously. A friend of mine has the same rifle in 300wsm and I do all his load development for him. It’s a light rifle so if you put a limbsaver on it, it’s like getting hit with a fast punch with a soft boxing glove that has no weight behind it. The only problem I had was I keep such a lose grip on it that when it would buck I’d sometimes catch the side of the stock on my top lip. That’s shooting from the bench, hunting would be totally different.

I hated developing loads for a friends Finnlight n 7mmremmag, the muzzle rise was ridiculous. My 7mmstw is much more comfortable to shoot.

I can tell you firing it without the limbsaver and bare rifle is like getting stroked by mike Tyson. Pretty sure I was concust.

I dislike all the Tikka super lights even in non mag calibers. Even the std Tikka kicks me unpleasantly with each trigger pull. Stocks just don't fit me well. The one super light I help a buddy with was a 300wm and hoky smoky that thing was vicious. I shoot the big mags regularly and am not super recoil sensitive but that thing was crazy

Nice rifle, should be good and accurate, all my tikka's have been. I looked at that rifle too but not in 7mm. I had a tikka in 7mm, won't do that again. lol

It kicks, but even with the factory recoil pad it’s not as bad as my 280rem in a win featherweight with the eraser style recoil pad, I’m sure those recoil pads were designed to protect the rifle from your shoulder. It’s a hunting rifle not a bench gun, use padding if it hurts too much on the bench, I’ve yet to feel recoil while shooting at big game.

This thread is making me laugh. Buy a Superlite then put a heavy stock on it.
That is exactly where you don't want weight to be- better to have a heavier barrel and lighter stock.

In any case that rifle will weigh over 7 lbs scoped. I really can't see recoil being that serious. My Forbes 280 is 6.5 and I think recoil is very tolerable even with max load 160's- which are much like factory 7 mag for velocity.

At worst, splurge on a Limbsaver Airtech.

When I was in my thirties I had my 340 Wby Rem700 down to 7lbs3 oz scoped. I launch 250's at 2960. Now there was some recoil! I used to let folks try it at the range. Only one dude ever asked for a second shot. These days it weighs closer to 9.

Congrats on a beautiful rifle. I think you will do great with it.

Congrats on the purchase. Let us know how it shoots, and more importantly what it shoots!

(You probably didn’t by a 7mm Superlite as a plinker or range gun, so recoil with a good pad won’t be a big problem, IMO).

LOL! Beautiful and Tikka should never be used in the same sentence, ever.

And what would you suggest has a smoother action or shoots smaller groups than a Tikka in the same price range or even twice the money.

It’s mind blowing, the difference in the types of reply’s between this forum and others like Rokslide. People are pretty supportive over on Rokslide (or maybe just keep the negativity to themselves) and on here, its 10-1 negative to positive.

Nice buy! Hope it serves you well. What scope are you topping it with? Cheers!

In reality this means that if you need a break on the gun then you should not own it or shoot it cause you cant handle it. breaks on hunting rifles are unnecessary unless you are shooting something you are scared of.

Nice gun though

I have the t3x light in 7mm with no brake or recoil pad . I find it snappy but more than manageable.
