It is a crazy gong show of hunters. Any time I've been out there I swear I'd never go back, but just my experience.

It's going to be gongier than usual this weekend. I believe a number of Calgary Reserve regiments are having an exercise up there. IF you hear thousands of rounds going off, it's not road hunters.

Some areas are definitely a gong show (even during bow season). Rifle season is just crazy.

Now, adjacent private lands....

Default get off the road.

get off the typical roads, Sharples, Skyline etc. 90% of guys just drive around. Hunt the Waldron as well, foot access only. Lots of lease as well with good elk opportunities. If looking for whitetail, wouldn't waste your time there.

Not a lot of white tails there.

A few up round Claresholm area.

Opening day there is silly silly stuff.

Late season when the snows come are good, if your ok with walking a lot.
As in away from the roads

I've never been there during rifle but during bow season I haven't ran into anyone else, I get away from the roads though.

Long story short..... The place is packed and other than elk the ungulates are pretty much wiped out. The elk are there but very hard to find in an area where you can get access. Where there is access hunters are tripping over each other. Or worse.
