Default McGregor Lake drain down. What year?

Anyone remember the year that McGregor Lake was drained down in order to repair the dam on the north end?
As I remember it, it was about 20 years ago and they took out about 10 vertical feet of water.

Anyone else remember this?

I remember it. You could see the channel in the big bay on the Milo end. Fishing was awesome. The launch was on the beach, in front of the campground.

in 78 or 79 there was a low point where south of the causeway [before the underpassing bridge was put in] was just a ten foot wide stream, with amazing fishing, lol

Glad someone else remembers this. Do you remember the year?
I thought it was about 20 years ago. ORV remembers a draindown for construction on the south end about 15 years ago. I wonder if we're remembering the same event and they did work on both ends of the lake at the same time.

The reason I'm asking is we got caught on the lake with a strong wind that wasn't predicted (thanks weather network ) and had a heck of a time loading the boat. Buddy said that it was a shame that they didn't put in a protected launch when they had the lake drained and a whole bunch of heavy equipment working on the dam.

That's got to be one of the worst launches in the province.

I think there were 2 drain downs ! The one reason was for construction of a bridge at the causeway so boats could get through to the McGregor Estates. Then they had to raise the water level for the same reason, the Estates, as there marina would be on dry land half the year. So they raised the height of the Milo dam, which needed the water to be lowered to do the work. I'm pretty sure it was about 20 years ago. If you bring up old fishing regs, it was done a couple years after they closed the lake to walleye retention.
