Default Some new finned friends

Howdy gentlemen,

As some of you may know I've been out of the province for a few years. I was able to come back for a visit in September and shake the rust off. The fish cooperated. Enjoy.

I hate you.

just kidding. But that's painful when my 5wt fly rod is in for warranty repair and I 'm told it will be few months before I get it back.

Debating using spinning rod or my 8wt on some streams. Never tried either before. Maybe it will have to wait for next year.

It's never too late. An eight weight chucking half a rabbit at dawn or dusk can scare up some angry kype jawed stream dragons.

I Love pictures of huge fish from small streams. Good job on camera and fish.

Is that a 4 wt Imperial?

Alright! I'm taking Friday off and doing it!

Question.... if I'm fishing the Sheep and Highwood with the 8wt, would folks recommend using the 8wt line, or throwing on my 5wt line from my broken rod? I now the latter won't load the 8wt properly, but it might land on the water a little more lightly, be easier to mend, etc. Thoughts?

I would imagine you won't be going for any 70 foot casts on the Sheep or Highwood...It can't hurt to try the lighter line. Bring both reels along if you have space. Just hang 10-12 feet of your 5 weight line Off your tip, and call it modified tenkara fishing!
