Default 2020 Antelope back from the Taxidermist

I got to pick up my 2020 Antelope the other day. First animal I have ever got shoulder mounted. When I was skinning I was in full autopilot and sloppily cut up the neck like I usually do before I realized what I was even doing. Taxidermist had to do some repairing, but it's not super noticeable, thank god!

What beautiful animals antelope are!

Yes they are! My first shoulder mount was also a antelope 10 years ago and I look at it every day thinking how beautiful of an animal they are. Plus, you have memories you can look back on too!!

They are beautiful animals !

I didn't say it wasn't noticeable, there is no evidence of blood anywhere on the mount.

Antelope have unique hair, which probably makes a repair more difficult. A barb wire scar. if anyone asks. Does look great.

Unless that’s the color of the cape. Looked like staining at first.

I agree. Tough to fix something like that especially on an Antelope.

Sugar Creek.

Marco did a superb job. The small details are perfect. The lips, eyes, ears, literally perfect. My bad with the cut up the neck, he did as good as job as possible fixing it. From what I hear Antelop are about as unforgiving as it gets. I'm glad it was fixable. Definitely a "doh" moment for me.

Antelope are brutal to mount. So hard to hide any hole, etc. the hair comes out really easy if you are not careful. Really careful field care helps a tonne, don’t drag the animal, careful with blood, cool it off quick. Hair can slip really easy on their capes. Marco did a nice job . That little brown patch between the white is there on lots of them.

One of my favorite animals to mount , love the different hair patterns on them not to mention the mant different color variations. As many have said tho the imperfections can be hard to hide.. Marco did a fine job

Default Another 2020 pronghorn mounted by Marco

I also picked up my 2020 antelope from Marco at Sugar Creek last week… it was a long 17 month wait, there was a significant additional cost over and above guys local to me, but damn, was it ever worth it! Marco does amazing work, and I’m super happy with the finished mount. I couldn’t get a close up pic to load, but the eyes and face detail are incredible.
The way antelope draws are going, i might never pull my archery tag again, so will likely never take a larger buck with my bow (he went 79-2/8 for those who care about measuring) so it was definitely worth the added cost and time to have it done by the best.
Marco does phenomenal work. I’d highly recommend him to anyone.
