Default forty mile quad?

just wondering how thick the ice is at forty mile res and if there are any spots to steer clear of such as springs or what have you . I am thinking about taking my quad out to explore some different spots ice fishing. I plan on moving lots to find what I'm looking for and a quad seems like the best option.

When I was there Dec 31 just in the bay the ice was a solid 10" and nice and black. I have heard there are springs, but I'm not certain about their location other than somewhere along north end, possibly close to the cabins. If you've never been on, one other thing to keep in mind is the lack of cell coverage as you move down the lake.
