Default Edmonton Elk?

hey all,

i might be moving to edmonton soon.

just wondering what kind of drive would i would have to dot to find elk if i lived in edmonton?

I've been lucky around southern alberta. i know where to find them here. but the north is all new to me.

im not looking for anyones spot. Just curious how much driving i might have to do to find elk there.

thanks

there are elk in WMU 936, about 1/2 hr east of Edmonton. Surprisingly draw priority is only around a 3 or 4, despite the close proximity. This is probably because it is foot access only. Park warden told me when I got my discharge permit that success rate is about 1 in 3 for elk in that unit.

Lots of elk within 1 hour drive west or north of Edmonton. However all on private land, you will need permission, get in line.

Just a heads up, WMU 936 (Cooking Lake / Blackfoot) requires people to attend an orientation and get a discharge permit. They do this every year, so make sure you call in and register for one early enough next year.

This was my first year out there, I just barely caught the last weekend of orientations.
