Default Still-hunting whitetail uhggggggg

Mulies seem to outnumber whitetail 10:1 close to my location. WT bucks are especially elusive. Have been still-hunting most of the rifle season and all the evidence of whitetail I was seeing were the flags.......not even knowing whether they were bucks or does. Never mind that I could walk up on many 4X4 mulies. So I changed from still-hunting to wait and watch. I get bored quickly and slip into never never land real easy.......it's an age thing I think .......and the temperatures were conducive to that peaceful easy feeling as well. Wish I could say I passed on a decent 6X6 whitetail......but that would be lyin'. I just wasn't ready when he went by at 90 yards. By the time I had him in my scope he was quartering away hard and never gave me a shot. Same spot next day (8th of Nov) I am not going to be hypnotized into a drooling ole' fart.................paid off with a downed WT at 200ish yards. Using up my vast quantity of 25.06 120 gr Fusion ammo. He ran like snot, tail between legs for 30-40 yards, out of sight. Found him with a pass thru shot nicking the heart. Have a Mule buck tag for 303....passed up quite a few light horned boys looking for something better.

Nothing wrong with the occasional rest, it is good for the mind and body.
Great description of your successful harvest.
Like the black and white picture.

Nice deer!!
Give me a sunny day on a steep slope after a morning hike/hunt and I'm lights out

One of the benefits of being an older hunter....that is until I start snoring/drooling

I think I get the syndrome from time to time as well just off in never never land. Also that is one great deer to boot.

Awesome deer and great story!

I find that intend to doze off during "settling down" time after setting up.

In some respects it's easier when I have the brats along, they can keep watch while I "recharge".

Congrats! Cool story and nice buck.
