Default Gorge Creek Road

Can anybody tell me if the Gorge Creek road west of Turner Valley is still blocked off to vehicle traffic? Or, can you drive the whole thing and come out at Millarville?

Thanks.

Yup unfortunately. Used to be a good shortcut from Millarvile to the Sheep.

Untl this spring you could at least drive a couple of miles of the southern portion along a hair-raising road to a permanent gate. Shortly after the flood, I saw they had closed it immediately after the entry from the Sheep River highway. Is that still closed too?

Hope they reopen that road atleast to the day use parking. The otherside from Millarville was open last I was down there. Was pretty rutted out in some spots but no problem getting down to the end.

It's still closed, as the road washed out during the flood:

Yup. They aren't going to spend all the money to repair that just to get you a little farther up a road that is closed just a few more miles ahead. Would be nice to drive through, but I get it. They want less traffic in that area, not more.

Dang. I guess the hunting in the K Country backwoods just got a whole lot better, only you can't get to it. (Prime habitat for Sasquatch, though, right next to Missing Link Mountain, cuz those woods are dark, deep and distant and full of deer and elk.) It's going to up the hunting pressure awfully in the woods west of Millarville. Dang. I went bird hunting off Gorge Creek Trail North the other night and all I saw was pickup trucks. I drew three tags in 406 this year, it's not going to be easy.

But I WILL kill my deer this year and I will kill it in 406.
