Default finish the question!

The o.p. didn't finish the question! It should read: How many guns is too many:
- per month
- per paycheck
- per ex-wife
- per season

.....see, it's really more of a multiple choice question

Well this is simply not true. You need at LEAST 2 shotguns- one for fowl one for bear protection, you need at least 4 high powers-one for coyotes one for deer one for elk and one for moose and you should always have at least 2 rimfires- in case one breaks you have a backup IMO too many guns is when you cant fit any more safes into your house.

all guns have the ability to multiply just like rabbits...so,the number could get quite high.

Randy said in another thread a while back that he had over 1000 at one point in time so I would think somewhere north of there.

I don't think there is such a thing, provided your bills are being paid and you have harmony with your wife. OK, scratch that second part.

My personal rule? When you have to start sneaking them in from your truck at 2am. In my case~about 3-4 guns ago.

That's what I do is bring them in when she isn't home. Works great. Although I did tell her about the 17 hmr I bought yesterday. But she doesn't know about the other 4 since Christmas.

Thanks for the support BattleRat.. maybe that's my problem. I thought it was a mid life crisis thing but it could be the lack of spent lead in my diet.

For me, once there's one in the safe I never use, I have one too many. I'm not a collector, so if it's not getting a workout, it's not earning a place in my home. This is a philosophy I've brought over from my bass guitar rack. And I make $ playing bass, so I could sort of justify having a bigger collection if I really wanted to.

That being said, right not I don't quite have enough. I really want an older Marlin 30-30 lever and a Ruger #1 in 303 British.

I'd also like a 20-gauge and something for bear protection. Likely a 12.

But we just bought a house. No spendies for the foreseeable future, even if I *could* sneak 'em past the wife.

You can always use one more! Never can have to many

If you have to borrow money to buy one more, you may have too many.

If your kids start to suffer from malnutrition because you spent every pay check on guns, you may have too many.

If you have to sell your house to buy one more, you may have too many.

Notice I said may have.

Grand Parents can have as many as they can afford.

I know for sure there will always be room for one more, one that my wonderful wife figures she needs because I do not have one like it in my lock up, but she would like to have for ------- reason! So who could argue with that!

Hahahaha!!

Wow your comments made me laugh so hard!

I have 6 firearms at the moment but I always have another that I want. From what you all wrote - I'm much more comfortable with the thought of wanting more.

But man - I couldn't see myself having more than a dozen!

Lol. It kinda sneaks up on ya.
I said something like that once, also said it about fishing rods.

I'm so glad that I came to my senses.

Do most of you keep the firearms you purchase? Or do you find yourselves trading and buying a lot?

I don't think I could ever sell mine but I hear some people wind up with too many and have to sell them off.

I probably buy and sell more guns in a year than most would have in their lifetimes!
However, that is quickly coming to an end as soon as I get rid of a few more .... honest- really!!

When you are having a show and tell session with the boys, and you pull a gun out of the rack and can't remember how you came to own it - you might have just enough guns

for me 10 is to much. My gun safe feels to over crowded with that many guns and I don't have enough time to spend time with them all. But I do like to have spefic rifles. example. One for deer, another for moose, another for bear and etc.

Are you feeling ok? Don't even say 10 is too much. It could make some of us look very bad. Lol. Just go out and buy another safe.
