Same Refs tommorow night

DION was a force. 2 big hits to the same guy on the same shift, followed by a helper.
If thats as good as Ed plays you boys from the north have some problems.
However.. You did win and for that I tip my hat.. Dont get to used to it however.

As for the sea of red.. What the heck is up with all the oiler fans at our game. It was CRAZY. Almost like a stamp/riders game in Calgary. Did all your succesful people move down here? So many mullets in one place.. I could feel the IQ dropping as the stands filled up.

See you tommorow night

Jamie
James, James my poor delusional friend. Your Lames have alot more to worry about than what you guys do against us on Sat. Wow Dion had 2 hits and an assist. Thats what your best players are supposed to do, unfortunately not all your best players are playn well, on the upside Kippers GAA has dropped from 5 to 4.75 so start planning the parade route..... traditionally we suck on CBC so I anticipate a close game but an Oiler victory. GO OIL
On a side note the Esks blew another lead tonite so your crossover prediction may be bang on..

More importantly, how about them Habs! Best young goalie in hockey, speed to burn and talent on the farm team to die for. They are quite honestly the only hope we have up here of bringing the cup home! GO HABS GO!

Wrong site, you want www.quebecoutdoorsmen.com

And Jamie, you say us Oilers fans shouldnt get used to winning, but i figure at least one of the Alberta teams should be able to be confident, and the shames record doesnt really allow for it this season. Se ya tommorow, i will be in the city of champs myself, might even go try and find a ticket or two.

Good win by the Oil.

I have some concerns though. They are fast but small. There is some stuff yet to be worked out, but I like the track they are on.

Calgary..............you guys look lost. Your best player is the one the entire city screamed bloody murder about when he was signed. Iggy is your enforcer and a lobotimized RyanGSP could post a better GAA than Kipper.

..............Oh yeah, we beat ya with our third string goalie..............

Mike Keenan isn't stepping up. We need IRON MIKE to rear his ugly head. It pizzes me off at the start of every season no one worries about the 8 points we never got, then we scramble at the end for 2 just to make the playoffs.

Did anyone notice that both teams were using their feet more than they were using their sticks to control the puck?

Calgary 2-1 tonite.

How many Oilers does it take to change a light bulb?

15. 1 to change the bulb, and 14 to sit around and reminice about how great the old bulb was.

Well, it was nice to see the tempo last night. I fully expect that both teams will be picking it up a notch tonight for round 2. It is also nice to see the BOA, having meaning to it. Oh hopefully she'll be a gooder tonight, I will be there in my BRADY jersey, cheering on the oil, up in 337.

HP, I am a big Oiler fan and even I found that pretty funny! Better to be reminice about 5 old bulbs than 1 though!!

The Oilers defanitly got lucky on a couple of the calls tonight BUT they did manage to score on them, where was the flames PK (500 ouch!) where was Kipper, he faced a lot of shots but where is the guy that can win one, I know, I know he is a slow starter but how far behind do you want to be??

BTW the flames had just as many power plays and a chance to come back in the thrid but could not make it happen. Edmonton looked great on the fore-check for a good chunck of the last 10 minutes of the game.

As for Dion... The kid is a glory hog punk, yeah I said it!! How many times does he put himself out of position to try and make the hi-lite reel, either by trying to throw the big hit or dangle in with the puck when he should be worried about being in postion? If it all works great he looks like a hero but most the time he just ends up out of position and someone has to cover for him. but he does have skill, maybe someday he will have a head on shoulders to match.

Cant wait for tonight Oilers 5, Flames 2. Kenann finally pulls the hook out for kipper after edmonton third goal of the first period!!

Cripes when are we going to get some more Calgary fans on here.
Ed get one win against a much better team and all of a sudden the mullets are yapping... That one cup win joke is getting old. Come up with some new lines.

As for IRON MIKE, after the Refs made a joke out of the 2nd period, I thought he should have been throwing stuff on the ice, standing on the boards and generaly sticking up for his team. I heard him after the game and he didnt sound to happy. At least in the pre seaon MAC T had the guts to get the boot.

Kipper was really good last night. Not one soft goal. BTW great save by Eds goal keeper in the 3rd. I even clapped for him.

As for Dion.. He does his job and the others on the team cover for him. If mike didnt want him throwing around his wieght.. He wouldnt be doing it. I would have hated to be that poor guy who got run over 2 times in 20 seconds, only to have Dion set up the goal. That was priceless.

Calgary wins tonight 4-2. My son has a game at 11:30, followed by my daughters B-Day party followed by the stamps game followed by the Flames.. Its going to be a busy day.

I would doubt if Kiprusoff even plays tonight. If Keenan does start him and he gets shelled again, heads will roll. I think Shames fans will be saying hello to Mr. Savard.

first of all, Thanks for hammering home the joke with your bulb comment. What do you mean where was kipper???? He got beat by good goals. Not his fault. Admit it coiler fans. You guys would stop at nothing to trade away any of your best d-men for Dion. he is a norris finalist for a reason. Of course someone has to cover for him. that is part of the flames system. Do you not think they practice it????? cmon and give the man some credit. That is the forwards duty, to fall back and cover the point. It has been since peewee hockey. His only blemish is his d-zone coverage. always has been and once he has that licked(he is getting much better) Can you say Norris? Anyone? And yeah, It is a back to back game sooooo. kipper likely wont be starting.

They mentioned last night that McElhinny is slated for the start tonite.
I hope he gets the SO. Mikka gets a wake-up call.

Calgary is still a strong contender for 1st in the NW.

Ummmm..NOPE, I actually enjoy the fact that our D-men play D. I still have no idea how he was considered for the Norris last year. I guess the selection committee was only watching the highlight reels and saw some hits and some goals on the PP. They obviously didn't see the terrible play in his own end.

Lets see, they overlooked Campbell, Gonchar, Rafalski (who was +27), Schneider, etc.

I'm not saying he'll never win the Norris, but he's got to get a lot better in his own end. (and Lidstrom has to retire)

WOW that just proves it. Oiler fans wouldn't know a good player if he ran over him at centre ice. Anyone who says what you did obviously is blinded by his passion for his own team. Hell there are players on calgary I would definetly trade straight accross for. I guess you should be on the panel that picks the finalists as you are obviously the expert on them.

On the post game show, one of the coachs for the flames already said Kipper would be starting tonight. Perhpas he misspoke, but that is what was said.

Kipper can not be faulted for those goals last night. He played well.

Dion is a god!! No matter what you guys say he is a great D-Man. You guys would kill for him, same as IGGY, Same as Robin, Same as Kipper.

Its a long season, they will pull this all together.
Now to Ed's credit. I thought they looked better last night then they have looked in a few years.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Dion isn't a good player. He's just not worth $7 million a year, nowhere near that. I'm also not an expert, I just believe that there were better D-men last year that were overlooked.

I'm also man enough to admit that I was totally wrong about Bertuzzi (so far). I thought that he would be a disaster, but as of now he's Calgary's best player and impressing the hell out of me.

The Flames will prevail tonight 4-1. The refs will not call the cheap calls like last night here's to hoping. The Coilers off to a better start.....whew hoo it's a long season. They'll fall back into the same old routine trying to make a mad string of wins to make it in, and just come up short.

As for the Flames a couple games they let slip away Shoulda won but hey it happens to all the teams here n there. once they get a bouce or break or A COUPLE SOFT CALLS from the refs we'll be gloatin jst like the Coiler fans.

GO FLAMES GO

CU 2NITE

Okay guys, this thread is staying alive for you all to cheer your favorite team, and for some light discussion on it. Leave the insults out of it, or it will be closed. We all have the right to pick our team, but we do not have the right to insult others, nor insult their team.

My the bitterness in here is palatable. Lets recap, we Oiler fans:

live in the past
all have mulletts
would trade everyone for a superstar like Phanuef
wont admit all 3 of our goalies combined are inferior to Kipper
the only way to beat the Lames is for the refs to cheat
wont overlook the fact that the Bert signing that half of Cowtown HATED is now a brilliant move
wish we had Reghere and his porn star mustache
Dion should automatically get the Norris cuz hes a god

Hmmm besides reiterating the fact that the refs hate the Flames and oh yes all the Sportsnet guys are secretly on the Oilers payroll just like the refs.

Give your collective heads a shke Lames fans you have a aging goalie whos best years are behind him, a superstar foreward in Iggy and a still wet behind the ears potential superstar dman. Thats about it. Berts playing well but half of you hated the signing, your team is running out of excuses for its poor play. What happens if the refing isnt horrible tonite ( in your opinion ) and you guys lose? I will predict we will see a ton of FIRE Iron Mike internet threads, or Mika isn't the answer threads.......its probably just a slow start by your team but I love seeing the spin doctoring you Shamers try to dole out....

GO OIL ( 5-3 Oil on an empty netter )

The flames have Phaneuf, arguably a Norris candidate. They have Iggy, arguably an MVP candidate. They have Kiprosov, a Vezina winner. And they have one of the worst teams in the league. What does that say for the rest of the team.

BRADY.... What fun is it if we can not aggree to slam each other.. Come on man have a heart

It was actually a bit funny to see the mix of Oil fans and flame fans at the dome the other night.. It was wierd.. You would see 2 flames fan then there buddy would have on a oil jersey.... Usually the flames fans would have to pay for the beer (becouse the oil fan hadnt recieved his government chq yet) then turn the oil fan into the beer biatch and make him carry it up to the seats.

Its all in good fun girls.

I understand that in the world that is Cowtown its never your fault its always someone elses. Not making the game going to my buddies with an expensive bottle of whisky watch the doubleheader on HD. Oil should win it 5-3 with the empty netter. which should kkeep Kipper at his magnificent GAA of 4.75
