Default Help identifying animal?

Anybody know what this is? I was thinking either a Wolverine or a fisher, but I dunno. It was taken at my bait in 332 last may.

Now that I take a closer look, I would say it is to large for a pine marten, fisher gets my guess

Love this google machine.
Martens are 1.5 - 2 ft long,
Fishers are 3 - 4 ft.

I wouldn't say they are rare, they never were numerous even in the best habitat. They are a critter of bush and woods more than open farmland so that area isn't the greatest area for them but there would always be a few around where there is bush. They are one of those animals that are rarely seen even when there is a healthy population of them, a healthy population still isn't anything you could call numerous.

Lots of bush not far to the west, would guess that's where he came from. Seem to have a fondness for bear baits, heard of a few hitting them.

Default Fisher

All winter we throw all kitchen scraps on the garden to roto-tilled under in
spring. A fisher comes around every 2-3 weeks and chews on bones and
stuff. It stays for 2 days and makes tracks checking every thing in the
yard. When it see us it will sit up to about 20 in. tall to check us out then go bounding off. When On the trapline the heaviest I caught was a 16 lb. male, young females were 6-8 lbs.

Absolutely a fisher. Get them on my line every winter. Fur more coarse than a marten and nose a bit rounder

Yeah it's a Fisher. Unmistakable.

I've handled hundreds of both Marten and Fisher, Fisher have a very distinct color pattern and tail. This animal is clearly a Fisher.

Cool picture. All I get is deer & moose on my trail cameras. Nice to see a different animal.
