HAMAS Attack on Israel

As I wake up to news from my son who is travelling in Morocco, I learned that
HAMAS has taken hostage Israeli citizens and military personnel as well as launched 7,000 rockets at Israel's Cities. The Iron Dome missile defence system could not stop everything coming at it, and there have been alot of Israelis killed and wounded.

Hamas has had sleeper cells activated in Israeli Cities and terrorist attacks from these armed groups are occurring in Israel.

There is a call to arms for all the Palestinians to rise up and attack everywhere in Israel.

This will not end well. Israeli Citizens are being attacked in their homes and the police cannot help them.

In this day and age where chemical weapons and radioactive material can render whole areas uninhabitable without a nuclear attack, this risk is very real for the cities of Israel especially as Iran backs HAMAS and possesses chemical weapons as well as nuclear waste material for "dirty bombs".

If bad comes to worse for Israel, Canada must open its doors for any Israelis who need refugee status. Iran's intentions through HAMAS is clearly to end Israel.

It is a messed up world we live in and we thought we have problems here. Been going on for a long time trying to eliminate Isreal.

A more likely scenario is the Dear Leader condemns Israel for retaliating followed immediately by a series of international flights around the world dropping off bags of cash to any country that will give him an audience.

I'm late to the party here.
However the world doesn't care what our useless PM has to say. The world doesn't trust Canada. We can't be relied on to keep our commitment to NATO, or even our own Canadian Forces. We allow terrorists into our country and defend them. IMHO we even have terrorist as government officials in this country.
We are becoming more of a liability on the world stage then an equal partner.

I don't think the Israelis are the refugee type. They punch way above their weight. The Arabs and Iran only have one long term goal, the elimination of Israel.

Just reading the reports, Netanyahu says they are at war, betting Iran is going to feel some pain as well.

Another one of those poorly thought out ransom deals , frozen Iranian funds traded for some Americans held in their jails. Have to agree on the intelligence angle, preps must have been massive. Netanyahu, being the hawk he is, is going to react accordingly.

The last people that should be giving up guns just based off historical facts are the Israelis. Not the first time tho people tried to disarm the Jews, it shouldn’t be coming from within.

I am not certain that Israel intelligence failed, I think they new something might happen but not of this magnitude.
But maybe they said screw it, let it happen so we can finally go deal with hamas and iran.
They have been pretty restrained overall. Now they have the full right to invoke war.
Not many countries have told the US and Russia to mind their own business and they did.
The next few days will be critical in how they deal with this. I have no doubt bombs will be raining down on iran.

Ugh. Some late night, half drunken musings. Take it for what you will.

First. War is hell. This isn’t war however. Yet. Seeing innocent people slaughtered is absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t care about race, religion, orientation or boarders. It just sucks. That includes both sides.

However, justice must be served, and I respect greatly Israel’s restraint thus far.

Now, while I feel pity for the folks in Gaza, I also do not either.

Hamas was elected and supported (for better or worse).

Here’s my issue. Israel is capable of notifying innocent citizens to evacuate area’s prior to an air strike in order to minimize collateral damage. Likely the only fighting force in human history to enact such humanitarian actions.

Yet…..a far out of character Hamas, highly equipped, highly trained and highly organized attack went unnoticed? Under Israel’s nose. Not one Palestinian out of 2.4 million noticed, cared to text or call back. Not one? Hmmmm. Something smells. Not one.

Four years of relative world peace under Trump starved the military industrial complex. Now replaced by an incompetent/corrupt (?) Biden administration that has seen war erupt in a corrupt nation he and his family have deep ties with, then now this?

I could be totally out to lunch here, but it wouldn’t surprise me one bit to find out that the Biden administration in one way or another, funded/supported this horrific attack. The $6b to Iran just makes them a fall guy. The election is coming and follow the money. Gotta look presidential and all…

End of day, I’m with SNS2. Starve the bastards out until the hostages are released.

Then make it a parking lot. The high road just means deeper ditches. Time to get dirty. They’ve made their bed.

Terrorists can't be reasoned with, or bargained with, they have to be eliminated or removed from the situation permanently. As long as Hamas exists in the area, this will never end.

I’m finding it interesting how many of my social media connections - including those on LinkedIn, which includes workplace and professional connections - are siding with Hamas on this.

Hamas is playing this a bit differently than in the past - the media/propaganda wing of their campaign is more slick and sophisticated than it was before. It’s sucking people in who normally wouldn’t think of themselves as antisemitic.

We've become a society so divorced from reality that the media can't even show images on the news without warnings they may be violent or disturbing.
