Default Whelan v.s 375

I have owned both. I wasn't really impressed with the down-range performance of the whelan compared to the H&H. I could just cut to the fact that of the two, I still own a 375, and leave it at that!
I reload all my own ammo, so supply for either wasn't really an issue, but I always noticed that of the two, the H&H ammo seemed more readily available in factory. I would be comfortable using the 375 for any game on the planet (although admittedly light for a few of the big five).

The 375 has more mystique to it than a 35 Whelen. I have owned both .My choice maybe based on wood quality differences . Which one do you enjoy holding and shooting more ? ( keep them both )

I also have a 375 H&H Remington 700 custom shop. Love it!

Definitely sell the 35, but make sure you wait until the first week of august so I can have some cash saved up for the buy/sell post

9.3x62 or .35 Whelen. Either does a fantastic job on WT to whatever if you keep your ranges within reason. Real meat savers on the smaller Game as well.

I’ve owned both and kept the 375 I just think of it as a supersized 30-06 it has way better trajectory with heavy bullets components are way more readily available Making its versatility beyond the 35 whelen which is no slouch

You need to read op carefully. He has both already , trying to decide which one to keep

Never shot the Whelen but I have an issued duty rifle in the Holland and Holland. Since you have both already from purely a availability standpoint and commonality I’d keep the H&H. I am sure the 35 is great but the H&H has a track record similar to the 30-06. In the end keep which fits you the best and is the most comfortable for you to shoot.

Default How about a 416 Rem Mag.

Seriously, the Whelen, 375 H&H and the one in the middle (9.3x62) are all good, but a 416 is just awsome. I had the opportunity to test a 416 Rem Mag and I loaded it with cast. Works pretty slick, recoil was manageable and hard to argue with the power, even with cast.

My load was a RCBS 416-350FN, a Rem 9 ½ M and 37.5 gr of 5744. Should be around 1700 fps. Accuracy good. The rifle, a Cooper Custom. The brake got a little black, but no lead. I was impressed.

I've not shot it with any full power loads, and probably never will. I have eye issues and see no need to temp fate and risk a detached retina.

A buddy had a 35 and it knocked anything down it saw, but I wonder on ammo availability if I had one. That saying I am quite happy with my Ruger #1 in the
classic 375 Ouch & Ouch.
