Default Pre drilled beaver board

So I have the beaver pattern. And I'm gonna use 3/4" plywood. I am thinking of going pre drilled and using pins (horseshoe nails). Does anyone know what size the holes need to be drilled I've only used this style once before and seems the holes wear out and get loose after a while. Any tips or suggestions?

???...every time use this board and stretch a hide, your holes are going to oblong and soon your "pins" are pointing in at a 45' angle but if you want to do this...go for it. It is no faster, you still have to hole the hide before locating your pinhole..
