Default Ballistics

Are the ballistics from the same caliber going to be the same?
7-08 Tikka going to be the same as a 7-08 Browning.
granted you are using the same ammo...

I'd say yes, but never actually done any chrono testing to support that. Seems logical though....

Perhaps, perhaps not,but in any case, the differences should be small.

no two chambers are exactly alike, no two barrels are exactly the same. The downrange ballistics should be very close given similar barrel lengths but highly unlikely that they would be exactly the same.

Curious- why do you ask?

Gramps is in one of his moods tonight so I guess I'll ask a question ..in 3 different 7mm rifles , with the exact same load, why would you think they all would have the same point of impact???...think the chamber (headspace). OAL, or barrel length, or lock time , or rifling?? or a ton of other stuff...might have anything to do with it???

Velocity would be the same within reason (there may be subtle differences due to different manufacturing tolerances) or it may vary a lot, like shooting an 18" barrel versus a 26" barrel. Assuming they were the same, one would have to consider only absolute drop (no accuracy involved). The differences would be so close it would be hard to tell them apart.

I would think that there would be more variation from the shooter,,and the ammo than actual rifle manufacturers,, here is an interesting read regarding barrel length..

Gramps, I'd say you'd be safe to consider them the same, if they have the same length of barrel.
Everybody sure love the new smilies!

At 300 yards it would be very close. Kinda like spliting hairs i'd say. jmo
