Default Just look at their heads

Look at the heads in these two pictures. See how pointy in the nose the original picture is and how it is on the pine marten picture.

Yes it is one nice large marten

I'm with Moose I think it is a Fisher. Just way to big for a Marten although the head kinda looks like a Marten

Do fisher and marten ever cross breed? That would be a "farten" wouldn't it?

Just kidding. I don't know what people are comparing it to, to say it is so big.

I would say marten right off by colour and general appearance. Buy it does seem to have a longer pointier nose than most, which makes it look a little like a fisher.

Default Marten

This is 100% marten. The only thing you get when you cross marten with a fisher is lunch for the fisher.

When's the last time you saw a fisher with an orange throat patch? It's an obvious marten to me.

Fantastic vid. Yup, marten for sure--yellow throat patch, tawny light brown, big (bigger) pointy (pointier) ears, and long lanky body. Fishers are long like this but chunkier and often darker brown sometimes with a silvery fleck like a griz. And fisher ears are pretty small and more rounded--more like a wolverine. It's sort of big for an AB marten, but actually pretty small for a northern NWT marten.

Neat video, I'd say it's a Marten but I'm no expert.
