Default Badger (East 10/15 mins from Calgary)

Please I need HELP

I live on a acreage just outside of Calgary and a badger is in my yard, last year he ate my Yorkie (dog) I have to 2 more dogs I don't want to loose. I need someone to set up a trap so I can get rid of him. Yesterday May 22, 2012 I went outside to let my dogs out and 30/50 yards away from my deck I found 6 large holes, so he is back and a little to close for comfort, I love my dogs like my children I need this thing GONE PLEASE HELP

Badger lives in your yard? You must have lots of gophers. No gophers, no badger. Maybe if you had a REAL dog, they wouldn't like it there either.

If ya live right outside of the city, I bet you could allow someone on your land to... terminate the problem... or better yet, load up and do it yourself! Badger hunting is fun from what my old landlord told me

Grab your garden hose and "hydro" him out of the newly found dens.

Whack him with shovel......problem solved.

Wet badgers are more docile than dry ones.

Have someone take pics while you are doing this.

Welcome to AO.

Such a pleasant lot here.

I'm sure there will be someone here that will take you up on the offer to blast the critter. Just hold tight, and ignore the grumpy old men.

that would take a lot of water to fill even a small nest especially if the ground is dry or porous.. you need volume.
have a septic vac truck come out and clean out the septic tank (which should be done annually or biannually).
and redeposit the 'goods' in the badger hole.
who cares if thats illegal, this about a badger damit!
and like IR mike says...any member of the weasel family are pleasant and docile, and some say when they are wet, they smell of roasted almonds or green apples too!!
oh yes and pics are a must!!

Default How many do you think are there?

In spite of the rude comments these are large weasels and are dangerous to any dog. Sorry about your dog.

Do you have large volumes of water available, such as a downspout? If you can make it wet enough they will leave, if not you'll have to shoot. If there are more than one it could take a while to get them all.

The rub with poison or traps is that they are indiscriminate, good luck with this.

I have only found Gopher poison I bought from UFA and these bomb things you stick in the hole I thought that worked or maybe it did and I have a new badger. I don't know how many are here but I think more than last year cause everyone around here has been seeing them, I want him gone before they have babies I am told this happens around June

I do not have a gun to be honest I am afraid of them.

Provide some raw chicken. I'll peg it to the ground and wait in the truck, when he comes out- boom! No more badger and we are all happy.
