Default Old bear traps are pricey

Seen in an auction near home here that there was an old hudson bay bear trap being auctioned off. Figured it would look cool down in my lair so went there and sat for 5 hours before they finally got to the trap. Well needless to say i didn't even get to bid on the thing. Started at $1000, went down to an abscent bid of $500 and then got bidded right back up to $1000. Too rich for my blood especially since I could order one from the states for $400 us if I really felt the need to have one down in my room for a decoration.

yah i asked the same question here a couple months ago, brand new from Halfords they are under 300??.
granted they are not weathered.
i often wondered if there was any oldtime blacksmiths who could mimic the older hand made version (not to physically work) just be made of old world technology. to look just like it.
id rather pay a craftsman for a replica.

I have a friend that had a real old bear trap he had it welded open and then made a coffee table and he inserted the trap in to the table and filled the rest with clear resin and then finished the table. It looks cool

You wouldn't be able to get pics of the table to share with the rest of us.
