Default Oilman's Shootout

Hey Everyone,

I'll be registering for my first archery shoot this year, and as you may have guessed, it'll be the Oilman's Shootout. I always hear about what a great event this is, and I'm excited to get my feet wet.... But I have a few questions...

I'm unsure of which class I will be in. My bow sight is a hybrid... 4 fixed pins and one slider. Otherwise I have a hunting setup without a lens. Will I register for Men's Open or Men's Release?

Also, what can I expect for shoot times? 2 hours? 1 hour?

And how many arrows should I be bringing? I'm expecting the obvious "Depends how well you shoot" comment, but is a dozen good? 9? Just wondering if I should stock up beforehand.

I'm really looking forward to getting out there and making some new friends in the archery community.

Thanks for all of your answers!

J

I think you could choose either class but I would suggest release. I would say 2-3 hours for shoot time, atleast that was the shooting time last year per round. Also I would suggest bringing atleast a dozen, its better to bring more arrows then you think you need rather then running out of arrows. Not saying your going to lose all of your arrows. The oilmans Is a great time forsure

If you intend to move your sight constantly throughout he shoot and after you shoot your first completion arrow, you are open.

If you do not you are MBR.

If you enter MBR and move your sight after first arrow of competition, it’s a DQ.

Oilmans is an awesome shoot! Max distance is 60 yrds I believe, all
marked yardage.

The shoot is on June 2,3 2018, just outside of the town of Bentley AB. This year it’s at a new location, they raise money for charities, great people and prizes.
My favorite shoot of the year, this will be my fourth year going.
Here’s a link to the shoot.
