Not good....especially nerve wracking fot those with deposits on product or if they were dealing with consignments. Hopefully, there will be quick resolution.

Thats Crappy
I liked going in there from time to time.
They had some neat gear.
Never bought any guns from there, but always had some gear I had been looking for.

That’s too bad, I was even planning on going there my next trip up as I saw something I wanted about 6 weeks back. Always a shame to see a shop close.

If you were consistantly treated right by said shop yes that would be a shame.

Reference on their facebook page to being forced to close, some "pending legal matters", and an upcoming press release. Let the speculation begin.

Personally, I think its too bad. hate to see another store close for any reason. I bought from them only once, but was glad they were there. Where else could I find a magazine locally for a 70 year old WWII .303?

Was always treated well since it changed hands a few years back.
Lots complained about the crappy service years ago and were judging the new ownership on those past experiences which is too bad.

First let me say I have no knowledge of what is going on at all,

having said that is may well be innocent and they may reopen soon as it could be something simple as an illness or a change in the ownership structure and they could be doing inventory.

again, not wishing to speak out of turn but having a background in some legal matters from time to time there are other possibilities that I am aware of from other businesses when owners get old and in this case there is a museum on the premises as well. It could also involve the city and zoning,

sure we will find out soon, Gord is a very honest and upstanding individual and will not leave us hanging without an explanation. Hope it is a simple business re-organization with inventory updates

cross your fingers we could get stuff from there we could not get elsewhere and some of their brains needed to be accessed from time to time

Personally i like that store. Its not your typical run of the mill firearms store. Hopefully it gets sorted soon and they remain open.

That is bad news. Especially before Christmas.

I liked that place. My 14 year old son who is an avowed hunter also liked Milarm and he is also sad to see it close.

All the best to the owners and staff.

Gord, Cody, et al......

So sorry you all have to deal with whatever is on your plate regarding this, especially during the holidays. Thanks for all the great service over the years. I'm sure hoping this is temporary, but if not I wish you all the best for the future.

BTW...

Default DIsturbing trend

I dont like the trend of Good Firearms Retailers closing. I like having lots of choice. Wholesale gone, Bass Pro buying Cabelas, not good for the sportsman. I guess we cant complain to much about high prices if these businesses cant operate profitably.

I liked dealing with Milarm and thought they provided great service.
In fact they were willing to order in a firearm for me when the big box stores would not.

The potential loss of this store does bother me as when i went there i always felt like i was being helped by people that genuinely liked firearms and showed an interest in them unlike the box store that recently announced a closing that made me feel like i was intruding on them by my mere presence.

Milarm has been on my "stop in" list for many years when I get to Edmonton. I bought several guns from them over the years most memorable was a MI Garand covered in cosmoline and brown paper fresh out of the crate $199 those were the days.

Update from their Facebook page

"Yes, I have been forced to close the shop. There are some pending legal matters going on at this time. I will have a formal press release sent out in the near future. Rest assured, if you have current business with the shop, I will do everything I can to get you looked after. If you have any further questions or concerns please forward them to milarmco@gmail.com

I did but the update wasn't on their FB page when this thread was posted yesterday. Besides, not everyone on here uses FB.

I don't either and it shows up perfectly fine. Generally business Facebook accounts are open so everyone can view them.

It’s getting tougher and I avoid anything Facebook related.
