Question Rabbit hunting

I am relatively new to Alberta, any suggestions to go hunting for rabbit/hare near Calgary?

Remember that rabbit eggs are hatching now.

Best to wait until September.

Hares to the west, "rabbits" to the east.
They are everywhere, just need to learn how to find them in the different habitats.

In Texas they say that rabbit hunting has to be limited to months with "R" in it, like, April. Are there anything like that here?
Where am from they have season for hares, where I am from started ~ November, 1st. Has to do with reproduction I guess.

Nope regs say rabbits and hare are fair game all across the province as long as you can hunt in the area.

In the months without the letter "R" rabbits are more prone to worms. They are also on a green diet instead of a winter woody browse diet which might have something to do with the difference in the meat. And breeding might be another reason for not hunting them in those "R" less months. Let the populations replenish.

This IS the reason for not hunting rabbits from May through August,
unless the goal is to reduce the population.

As I mentioned, their eggs are hatching right now....

Actually the main reason for the "only hunt in months with an R" is tularemia. More prevalent in the warmer months.

Old advice but probably good to heed.
