Question Czech/European Nymphing

Just wondering if anyone has tried, with success, these techniques. I have been fly fishing for 10+ years and have never tried. The technique seems simple enough, just wondering about success rates and any tips that may give me an advantage. I usually fish smaller streams in the west country, but recently moved to the Calgary. So any info on this technique on the bow would be awesome!

Cheers

recently I've been learning to high-stick nymph with a sighter section of line and wean myself away from indicators. It's a good way to fish, but unfortunately in BC here we're only allowed one fly on the line. You can really thoroughly cover specific water though, short drifts and quick casts. If you see a spot that you feel should hold fish, don't be afraid to drift it 20 times or more, that's what czech style is for.

watch some youtube, then have at 'er! practice makes perfect, no substitute for experience.

Thanks flieguy! Ya i have watched a ton of vids on the technique. I know you said that you are getting away from indicators; in the videos it seems they use an "inline indicator" or a "french style coiled" indicator that never touch the water. Have you ever tried high polling with one of those?

nope! I use a straight line sighter, you can buy them or make them from backing.

I found backing to roll funny when "casting" and prefer to use high vis mono.
