Default Tannerys/Tanning

Any suggestions on a good place to get furs tanned (dry tanned)
and places to stay away from.
Thanks.

Maybe don’t try starting a tannery in Montréal. Me thinks the governing authorities there a bunch of bass turds. (Just ask Ezra at Rebel News!!!) Think they gave both East West and Splendour an awful lot of grief.

East West guy sick of them, retired regardless. Think his people and maybe some equipment went to Splendour. Splendour I think had bigger troubles, accumulated numerous fines, big ones, lots, and I think the governing authorities were in the process of shutting them down. I had a whack of fur sitting there from the March sale, me completely unaware of Joe’s woes. I randomly made a call to FHA to Bosma and they put me on speaker phone and talked like Splendour had big issues, get yer fur out NOW!!! To make a long story short, a BIG SHOUT OUT to the Montreal fur barons for rescuing my fur and many others.

Obviously Joe knew he was shutting down, but did me a big favour, dressed my beavers and cats, and made sure they were well marked, apparently it was quite the work zone, goodies everywhere you looked. I met Joe at the FHA sale in March and had a lengthy visit with him.

So the city or province or somebody shut the place down, leftovers anything destined to immediate destruction, skins, machines, anything, everything.

Sad ending to the story. Big Joe had health issues and passed away a week later.

Definitely a concerted effort against our industry, no accident either I suspect. Montreal a WEF town.

International fur is awesome. You need to get export permits before sending to them though.

For local in Edmonton, I used western fur a bunch and have been happy with the end products.

I've used Western for my bison, a buddy used Edmonton Fur Tanners for a couple of his. My trapping catches went to International, they all did good work.
