https://www.airgunsource.ca/us/umare...cal-combo.html

just didn't like it when the rifle was turned to the right say during cocking the mag has a tendency to fall out....other than that looked pretty neat....not my preference though as I would prefer a break barrel single shot.....but the price is relatively good on this rifle and it will get you off to the races!!!!!

good luck.

I bought a Umarex Gauntlet PCP last spring....just for something to do.
Price is very good for a PCP.
I also splurged and bought a compressor.
Ive fired thousands of pellets thru it.
Its very accurate, depending on the pellets you use.
When its dead Ill maybe buy something higher end....or not.
For the price its a pretty solid pcp.

Not quite. Leaning towards that one I posted. Just waiting to hear back from my Buddy - he knows a fellow in the industry who has handled these so is asking for his review / suggestions...

Letcha know as it goes...

Cabela’s Edm area flyer shows a Gamo G-Magnum 177 rated 1600fps, hmm,
With scope $329.

You can give us a range report once you’ve got it.

You’ll want to replace the scope fairly quickly as those packages tend to use very cheap optics, also 1 tin of pellets isn’t enough. You’re going to end up buying a variety of weights and possibly head sizes to see what’s the most accurate in that particular rifle. Maybe you’ll get lucky quickly but it’s highly unlikely, as it takes a magazine you need to keep pellet length in mind for it as well.

Does this rifles have something that prevents a dry fire?
If not you need to pay attention and count your shots or you run the risk of damaging it.

As stated before your going to need to learn the artillery hold.

Welcome to a whole new rabbit hole of shooting fun.

Cool

This ain't your granddaddy's BB gun!!

Umarex Synergis 22 900 fps. Fixed barrel, nitro piston, under barrel lever, and 10 round magazine

First notes:

Heavier than I expected. In fact pretty much the same as my 300 Weatherby.
Instructions appear easy.
Scope is OK, but will be replaced down the road.
Overall impression - seems well built and very robust.

Now to assemble it and learn how she operates.
Tomorrow or Thursday to shoot depending on the sky-water...

Cheers,
Nog

I'll have you know that I wear my Weatherby Badge Of Courage that I collected at the ripe old age of 16 years quite proudly!

Just keep any seals well oiled and it should run beautifully. Let us know how the clips feel, I’m interested in one my self but I’d much prefer a single shot. Any reason for a 22 over 177?

Question

Alrighty then, here is yesterday's range report:

Took a few measurements of the single group shot previously when it just arrived, and adjusted the scope so as to try and get them centered properly.

Then wandered out to a close gravel pit and got set up:

Only company was a couple of tossed mattresses to watch the show:

Ammo of choice (recommended for this rifle):

First group at 15 yards. Pretty close guess on the scope adjustments:

So, out to 25 yards:

A few tweaks to the scope, again at 25 yards:

Almost acceptable. But the next group shocked me:

And the next two were even more opened up?

If my crossbow did this, I would suspect a scope mount / bolt issue.
But a quick inspection suggested these were all fine.
Will look closer today.
Will also clean the hell out of it, and try again when the sky-water quits.

Other comments:

Rifle cocks easily.
Magazine functions well.
Two stage trigger is initially a little gritty - makes it a little effort to determine the wall.
Trigger does break clean with about 2.5 - 3 lbs.
Scope is only so - so, and will eventually need replacing.
Overall weight leans to the heavy side.

Anyone have any idea as to why the groups would open up like that after starting off so much better?

Can't put my finger on it and that is a little concerning...

Standing by...

Nog..I would get on a pellet rifle forum and ask as I bet you it is as simple as the actual right pellet or chuck out the scope it came with and go with a highly recommended one....nice looking rig though...good luck.

Bought my pellet rifle for my dad and the packaged scope was crap..swapped it out and 30 yards all shots clustered in a dime size area....deadly.

Inspected & weighed a good bunch of the pellets it came with today.
Very uniform, no blems and the weight was amazingly consistent.

Leaning towards the scope and / or it's mounts as you suggest.
Will pick up some other mounts and toss on a scope I have on hand.
Hoping that is it...

JsB are great pellets, do not worry about speed, try a heavier pellet for more accuracy, less drift. Im shooting 25.4 to 33 grain, to take out pigeons out to 70 yards , at less then 800ft a sec.. in pest control business.. shoot close to 2000 flying rats a year,, be careful with a springer and a scope.. 500 dollar scope can be done in 50 shots, get a scope made for a springer rifle. Have fun. A great guy on youtube.

It could be the scope. The package scopes are of extremely poor quality.
Let us know how that goes.
Having said that, air rifles are extremely sensitive as to which pellets they like and do not like. The right pellet might shoot dime sized groups at 30 m. Another pellet that appears of equal quality and price might shoot 6 inch groups at the same distance.

Change the scope to springer rated one and try different brands, weights and head sizes of pellets. Eventually you’ll find one it likes.

Question

I sent the company an email, requesting a discount on a better scope.
They said OK, and offered 40 clams towards this one:

Hawke Airmax 3-9x40 AO AMX

https://www.hawkeoptics.com/airmax-3-9x40-amx.html

https://www.airgunsource.ca/us/hawke...40-ao-amx.html

I have a Hawke scope on my crossbow which has worked out very well for me. Damn tough, and never ever needed any tweaking. So I am somewhat inclined to bite.

Before I do, I'd like some input from any that feel they can please...

Hoping...

I have a Hawke scope on a Weihrauch 97 that has held up well and shoots great. Different model than you are looking at.

Hawke scope ordered & they honored the discount.
Told me to simply toss the old scope, so I take it they sort of knew it was junk from the get-go.
I'll wait for it to show before picking up some decent mounts and giving it another whirl...

Default My impression is...

Pellets that get into the high-sub to super sonic range have to be alloy. PBA is the most common. It helps with accuracy and fouling.
The Hawke scopes are very good for air rifles. It is the reverse recoil that a lot of scopes have a hard time with. Hawke has been big in the euro air market for quite some time.

Your hold may also be affecting accuracy. "Springers" have a different recoil pattern and can be fairly hold sensitive and many suggest a light hold rather than a tight grip most shooters are accustomed to.

"The Artillery Hold" speed and accuracy usually don't belong in the same sentence with springers. In a .22 800fps is about tops.I run a HW80K/.22 with a tune kit at 750fps and it makes one hole groups mind you this is German quality not Spanish,Chinese or Turk.

My Benjamin Cayden puts pellets n the same hole easily at 25 yds n kills gophers up to 50 in .22. I have a hAndpump + Scuba tank fill with decent hawke optics. Great gun cost around 1000. Once u go pcp u never look back at springers. I use around 20 grain pellets. The heavier ones very consistent. If I go below 15 grain they travel too fast n results less accurate though still decent

Not a small pellet rifle for sure, gives a good pop, and near 1000 FPS with standard pellets and they say 1200 with alloy, not tried those yet.

Not expensive and gave me what I wanted for a cheapie budget.
I got it from that site back east that went under 3-4 years ago, forget the name.

I shoot a 177 gammo 1,000 fps but they told me an alloy will add 250fps, 3x9 scope works like a dream, mostly used for pigeons (very effective), also purchased a benjamin 22cal also 1,000 fps, a heavier gun but has not let me down. both set me back about $450 each.
