Update for Assineau Was out saturday Didnt encounter any slush but snow was deep and you had to stay on established truck trail out. Watched a number of vehicles get stuck when they strayed off the beaten path. The warmer temps this week should knock the snow down some. Saturday the wind was howling in the 35-45 km range all day till 5 pm when it died. Fishing was brutal with that low barometric pressure system moving through.Saw lots on camera but they paid no attention to baits

I just came back from cut bank, the access is still good to the cabins, getting off of the main trail is not recommended though. There wasn't any flood water that I seen as of Thursday afternoon, fishing was slow through the day, the best bite was from 7am till 9am, and picked up again in the evening around 6. 🎣

We were out at Canyon creek this past Saturday March 10.

On the ice at 8AM and we didn't have our first fish on the ice till about 12pm.

No flood water present.

Best action for us was about 20mins between 230-300PM. Caught our limit.

Unfortunately, the walleye were skinny and pale.

Five things to keep in mind:

  1. Bring 2 extensions as there is 40" of ice (1 spare just in case)
  2. 4x4 only and stay on the trail, you will get stuck/need chains to go off trail
  3. Travel in pairs, take two trucks if possible as this will help if one gets stuck
  4. Hurricane like winds always at Slave, so dress warm if not in shack
  5. Bring a couple good shovels, I was stuck twice in a 3/4 ton.

Be safe,
Tight lines out there!

Was back at assineau yesterday. The main truck trail to shacks was much better but if you strayed off it still deep. Flood water is gathering around the shacks but the lake isnt bad at all. I had to chip 3 inches of ice off shack and raise it 6 inches. Fishing still really slow. Was windy again yesterday but nothing like the weekend
