Default Youth Shooting

I'm taking my 4H kids out for an evening of shooting .22s. I have 10 point targets and tic-tac-toe games for them. I'm looking for other games to keep them engaged and trying.

Duelling trees

Either an actually duelling tree, or two of the flip targets with the reset target.

That was always fun with open sites

Default 4H

We are a multi club. Mostly acreage kids in or near the city. I'm working with 5 of our kids in a "shooting sport" option. We go out on a regular basis and try anything that accelerates a projectile. During the winter I mostly focus on archery and rimfire at the indoor ranges.

A little on the pricey side but the reactive ball targets are pretty fun too. Throw them out and watch them bounce as they're shot.

as a suggestion, Balloons with 3 table spoons of flour inside.
After using a funnel to get the flour inside blow up the balloons till basket ball size or tennis ball size. then hang them from a target. When they pop the flour will create a dust cloud. I used this method to introduce my stepson and wife to shooting a target. I tend to buy the balloons cheap at a dollar store, and make inflate them to different sizes so my wife and stepson has to control breathing when firing. After all said and done, I will pick up all the balloon parts.

I believe ppl devolop the flinch habit off the bench shooting at a lifeless peice of paper. Trying to pop Balloons on a string flailing in the breeze are a challenge.
Reactive targets, clanging steel, rotten fruit and vegetables, water filled containers Anything other than paper. It is easier to grasp for new shooters to see results. it places your focus downrange and less at the noise and recoil.

I set up clay targets, hanging from a wire. Granddaughters like when things breaks.
