Default Ice line

Any one use Ice Line?

Going to replace the line on all my ice rods and am wondering if it is worth it. I have been told that the ice does not build up on the line but I don't believe that one. Also it is difficult to find any over 6lb I am sure some heavier will show up but for now nada.

I dont like the ice line gimmick. Ice still builds up after all the water repelling coating wears out on the braided line. The spools are super tiny and you dont get much either.

The best ice line imo will always be a standard mono line. Even with a chunk of ice stuck to it at least i can still reel my line up when i need to.

I agree - I see absolutely no difference, side by side, against other "non ice" lines.

Total gimmick. I admit I took the bait .... lol

I hate those tiny reels.

I use mono for any fishing less than 30 FOW. For deeper fishing, like lake trout, I still run braid and just cuss out the ice buildup. When you are fishing 100 FOW I find the mono stretch reduces sensitivity too much.

10lb power pro mainline and either fluoro or mono 2-4ft leader line on every application. You just can't beat that sensitivity from Power Pro, but I find the leader line is especially important in the gin-clear lakes of southern AB. When I'm in MB, a lot of the water I fish is "turbid", at best, and downright muddy, at worst, so it's less important.
