Found these changes interesting for next years regs
What do you guys think of these changes for next year?
-Changes to licence allocation models to address localized ungulate conflict with producers.
-A cross jurisdiction licence fee review is currently underway to ensure that Albertan’s are receiving full value for hunting opportunities.
This will include licensing structure changes designed to encourage and re-engage senior hunters and provide seniors with more
opportunities to mentor a new generation of hunters

So what exactly does the first change mean. Are they going to take tags away where deemed. And the second one is meaningless as well, with access getting harder and harder to get into places in FLUZ’s the older generation aren’t getting to far into the bush.

Mentors
I find it curious that the government is seeking ways to "re-engage" seniors and and involve more youth. What does that mean exactly and how are they proposing to do this. Already wait times for tags are on the rise, land closures to hunting are occurring more and more every year, fishery bios point blank tell us that they intentionally make the regs strict because "they know that most of us are careless about releasing fish and flat out engaged in poaching". And there is no commitment to completing annual aerial wildlife surveys. Now they say we need to "re-engage senoirs and mentor youth"??? Well the AFGA has doing this very thing for years. And for years and years the regs have offered youth tags at discounted prices and offered youth partner tags on just about everything.

Cross jurisdiction??
What is this "cross jurisdiction" bizness all about?
Do they mean they are going to clamp down on non-res CDNS/migrant workers/stricter residency requirements etc.?
As it is,it's far too easy to get a resident hunting licence imho.

Our system is definitely flawed. Id like to see something more like the NWT where theres a minimum 2yr residency required before being eligible to buy hunting tags & put in for the draw.

What can we think about the proposed changes?
All we can do is speculate what they mean....
I warned that dissolving AGMAG was a bad deal for Resident hunters, that we would be treated no better than mushrooms where involvement with changes are concerned.
Kept in the dark and fed BS.
And here we are.

To me it sounds like there will be more tags available in areas where wildlife, producer conflicts are and a cost reduction for seniors.

I agree
Seniors should be given a discount
And they should only be allowed to hunt Willmore Wilderness, on foot, at least 18 miles from the nearest road

Funny how you can make a sarcastic remark about seniors on here with no problems (and I'm ok with that) but do the same regarding Indian hunting rights and it's gone like now.

Lol. It’s because seniors are really not productive because they dont work, rely on a government cheque every month, and expect everyone to bow to them because “they were here first”......

Oh now I understand. Thanks for explaining that for me, huntinstuff. I am most certainly old enough to qualify as a "senior" by anyone's definition. So does that mean that, in addition to the things you mentioned, I am exempt from income tax (and all other forms of taxation for that matter), that ALL my heath care costs will be covered by the government, that I will be able to hunt and fish year round without having to worry about those bothersome seasons and limits etc. and that the money which heretofore I've had to set aside for licences will now be available to purchase beer?
Does it also mean that I can expect an apology from our head of government for anything that may have happened to me in the past which I might perceive to have been unfair?

Seniors discounts on tags, collect points for draws on an accelerated rate based on 5 yr increments. 60-65 1.5 x faster 65-70 2 x faster and so on. Allow flock shooting on large herds of deer as the eyesight gets worse. Hire students for summer work collaring game with bell collars so us old guys can hear the game coming. Just a few that would tweak my interest in hunting more.

Throw the crossbow in where it fits could really help improve/increase engagement/mentorship/access across the board. One day

My suspicions are 2 reasons.
1. the herd has been held at it's max they want it at which is around 700 head I believe.
2. most of the hunting has been done on the lake for years and that one specific bunch has taken a beating. Not sure how they would avoid that unless they made some new out of bounds areas.

Now you're talking what about senior hunting week. No bag limit, any species. I'm not a senior but I'm a advocate for seniors rights. You old guys rock. Lol

Because the Bio couldn't count to 400.
This thread proves Public Hunting consultation has become a joke.
