2018 Trophy Antelope
I’ve applied for and hopefully will be successful in drawing a tag for 102, and 118. I was wondering if anyone could possibly help me answer a few questions on things I can generally expect to look into. As to where fuel is available, where a guy could camp, and some strategies for finding antelope. If there is anything I’m leaving out or if anyone has some contacts they would be willing to share it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

no church land south of here, but the church ranch is about 15 miles west.......and last I heard there's no chance you're hunting antelope there.
there is a little camp kitchen north of the aden customs three or four miles. you could stay there if you are self contained.

Carry lots of fuel with you, Orion used to have fuel but Boyd's burned down. Foremost has fuel.

Fuel in Elkwater too.
As for antelope spotting, get up high and glass. The antelope will be where you find them. They are almost constantly moving. Especially if they have had some lead going at them.

Expect lots of hunting pressure. Bring as many jerry cans/slip tank as necessary with your vehicle for putting on 200-800km a day.
Drive lots, spot, get out and walk, get high and spot, etc.
there are not many huge ones around, so if you want a big one, plan on spending the week and looking at lots of antelope until you find the right one.

I've never been 1 much for driving around for Antelope I've killed three of them in three different provinces and I would usually pack in with a backpack and go a couple miles away from the roads let the hunters Chase to you always been successful good luck

Good luck, I was through the area not long ago and haven’t seen anything worth pulling the trigger on. It was a hard winter down in that part of the province.

I drew that tag last year with a buddy and we had a great trip, saw a bunch of friends I havent seen in a long time, saw some country I used to live and enjoyed a hunt with highs and lows, great weather and crap weather, a bit of everything!
I shot my buck on Day 1 (after figuring that I wouldnt shoot an opening day buck). We had a buck give us the slip first thing in the morning and then by 1 in the afternoon we came across my buck in a spot that I couldnt resist. Hunted the rest of the week and my buddy shot his buck on the Fri or Sat of the season after passing up a bunch, hiking and driving and glassing a ton of bucks.
I've seen highs and lows in that country when I used to live there, but overall we had a good trip. Be interesting to see what those drifts did for the herds this year.

First of all it's a fun hunt and trophy size might not be the way to measure success. Bring 4 jerry cans... Spend 3 days before the season opens scouting and getting permissions....bring a map (s) you'll need it for sure. The better the binoculars you have the better it is. Prepare mentally to drive lots, I really hate that part but it's necessary. Skin carefully and save the hide it makes beautiful leather.
