Not sure how serious he is. Needs a little proofreading on his ad lol Wonder how much he wants? What he catches? Sounds like a nice setup if the price is right

Ya the ad isn't overly well written. No idea on price but I'm guessing he isn't giving it away with the way he worded "serious inquiries only" lol
Just thought if somebody was interested it could be a good opportunity. If somebody does know the price inquiring minds would like to know

Is that considered an average size trapline in Alberta?

Not sure about average but I would say if it isn't logged to death it would be a good size. Best bet is to see what he catches off of it every year and how many marten boxes he runs

I would say it's a decent sized line. Most of the lines closer to bigger cities seem to be smaller and the further you get from town the larger they get. My line in the saddle hills was 2.7 townships and my new line south of Grande Prairie is close to 4 townships. I know lots of the lines up north are bigger (6-10 townships) and some of the lines south of Grande Cache and over towards Fox Creek where Nube's is are bigger as well. I have heard about a few lines west of Calgary and other areas that are only 1 township so it's really all over the place.

I do know one thing TFNG, if you want a line and can afford it don't hesitate and wait for a cheaper line down the road. They are not going down in price and are getting harder and harder to find.
I waited 15 years to find the one I just bought and baring some trajedy I can't see it ever leaving my family. It never actually made it onto the market before it was sold.
The guy who bought my Saddle Hills line is in the same boat. He's wanted one since he was a kid and will pass it on to his kids when he can't do it anymore.

I was curious Tork that's all. I am not in a position to buy a line yet. I hope to buy one in five to ten years. I've got lots to learn and I'm still saving.

I'd like to work my way towards a line gradually. A couple more years as a resident trapper and then become a junior and gain more experience then I would be ready to buy a line.

Edited to add- I also would be curious of the asking price but won't waste his time.

The only trapline I can think of with a "two story skinning shed" is the one across the Bighorn Dam on Abraham Lake. If it is there is mega quad activity on there from the random camping around the Damsite.

It isn't worth a quarter of that. I'm being conservative.

Is that because of no fur or because it is all logged up? Maybe too busy of an area?

So is it busy in the winter ? When you are actually trapping. My Saddle hills line was busy in the summer and fall, but I never saw a soul out there in all the winters I trapped it. The ATV crowd never scared away my marten or wolves.

Not nearly as bad as the summer, depending on the weather(snow)it can see a fair bit of activity in the winter.Lots of nice trails back there.

Not much for fur, too busy an area. Even in the Winter there is still alot of activity, but certainly not as much from June to October. I can't remember exactly how many hits the SRD counter got going across the dam but I believe it was in the tens of thousands. There has been quite a bit of logging on the South East portion of the line. Certainly lots of trails and quite a few maintained by volunteers. Sure isn't worth the asking price from what has been recently sold in the area.

Edit: I guess though beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Sounds like another Hunting cabin that comes with a trapline.
