Been using the Kirkland for last few smokes. Gives good flavor and smell. Price is right.

I am just wondering if you know that there are heating pellets and food-grade pellets? If you do know, carry on. If you don’t know, maybe do a bit of reading. Not looking for debate, just wanna make sure you know.

Yes I do and right off the cannawick site it says no additives or chemicals can be used for cooking.

Yes the kirkland brand pellets work great. Wish they came in more variety but you can't beat the price.

They must have updated their website; they didn’t say that years ago when I was looking. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure you knew and obviously you had looked into it. Not all heating pellets are like the canawick though.

I have probably used 8-10 bags of the Kirkland pellets now. They are awesome!

They burn faster with more ash than competition pellets and do not quite have the same depth of smoke flavour but the price more than offsets those shortfalls given the competition blends are double, triple or quadruple the price

Not gonna lie I wasn’t real happy with the couple bags that I tried. Seemed to be an awful lot of sawdust in them, to the point where it was blowing onto the food on the grill. I ended up sifting the last half of the second bag just so I could use them. Also very inconsistent pellet sizing some of them being almost 3” long and jamming up the hopper auger. I ended up breaking the real long ones when I was sifting the last half of the bag.

I do think my Louisiana smoker is a little more finicky then the other brands too. My best luck has been with the pitboss or the lumberjack brands of pellets.

They will burn and make smoke but they are no where near a premium or high quality pellet. Like almost anything, you get what you pay for and each to their own!

I have used 2 bags and was not impressed with them. Using my grill in the cold, I could not get heat over 375. Also when starting up, it takes longer to warm up. Lots of ash as well.
They work and get up to temp eventually. I never really noticed if I using more to get the same results as a higher quality pellet.
As stated - you get what you pay for.

I was going to say they've been fine in my Traeger. But to be honest I've been having lots of issues with my the past few smokes and now I'm wondering if these pelets could have something to do with it. I'll have to pay closer attention. Thanks for the heads up.

I have the same experience as above.

Just make sure you're not pouring sawdust from the bag into your hopper.
