the only situation on the globe that seems more convoluted/totally unexplainable is the presidential situation in the u.s.

the decisions being made defy logic.......and now they've done a u turn and got gagne back?

if it wasn't so totally absurd, you'd have to think that the people making the decisions there must be collectively insane.

If you guys win 20 out of last 24 games there is a good chance you will make the playoffs.

all you remaining spoilers fans must be beside yourselves. what kind of gong show will they think of next?
Nah....... just some fun drama that’ll make the victories that much sweeter when they come. Life’s got bumps..... embrace the suck.... it’ll pass.

Gagner was a good trade. He’s a power play specialist and we freed up cap space.

This season might be done..... barring some miracle secondary scoring.

But Geeze..... let Hitch be Hitch....... that ‘be nice’ order has MacT written all over it. I bet Drai went and shined to him.

Gotta luv millionaire millennials..... sigh.

I think the playoff windows fadin boys.. but meaningful games in Feb is sure nice!

One playoff run in 13 years this will end up being after this season. But realistically, I can’t see them building a playoff team in under 3 years from now due to having to dig out from the mess Chia left us.

If we don’t see a statement from Katz after this season, it’s because he is ok with his “Oilers hobby” as long as people keep buying tickets.

Wake up people. Quit buying tickets, quit being loyal to years of mediocrity and sub par performance both on the ice and in the front office.

Katz went to the city to help pay for the new building. It’s up to him however to ensure the product on the ice is worthy of this facility.
New state of the art building, garbage team. Lipstick on a pig.

Ducks win one, now the Oil are 8 points, more importantly, 6 teams out. Playing out the string now, tough season.

It's OK, the OILERS will do another player evaluation for the next 20 some games like last year...What where the results of last year's EVALUATION process

Oilers playing, and we are halfway through the second and this thread is still on the second page? Well, I guess that tells the story.

Would anyone care if this thread got nuked..like the first one....?

Anyway, coyotes up 1-0, shots 21-9 so far. (12-1 coyotes this period)...the fans care as much as the team.

We're NOT posting because it might be BAD LUCK On a serious note, McJeezuz is out and the OIL are 1-8 when McJeezuz doesn't get a point...Oiler's have a FAN signing day and some un-vaccinated kid gets McJeezuz sick!!

Well, if Mcjesus was vaccinated, he shouldn't have gotten sick, right? Always blaming the kid who didn't get the vaccine....

On a side note, Blues beat Leafs in OT for their 11th straight win.....they are looking monster. I suspect they will beat (physically) some good teams in the playoffs. Big Bad Blues are back...

Pretty obvious which team wants to win a game, and which team wants to win a draft lottery. I bet Jack Hughes prays every night....

Nobody cares, but RNH ties it with 11 seconds left...so they get a point looks like.

Some days I troll, some days I'm just a hockey fan watching a game...I'm just kinda surprised no fans checked in. AZ wins it in shoot out, so Oil get a Bettman point.

There isn’t much for us Oiler supporters to cheer about, that’s why it’s so quiet on the thread. The Oilers are terrible, as simple as that. Tonight other than Drai they didn’t look better than an AHL team (no insult to AHL teams intended). The second best player tonight? Sam Gagne and he was an AHL player not too long ago.....lol. We’re a team of three or four impact players and the rest are mediocre at best.

A powerplay specialist in the AHL? He wasn't even playing for Vancouver's ahl team they loaned him to the marlies, all of a sudden he's a 2nd line player in edm.

Not sure if any cap space has been freed, looks like the opposite actually.

"Gagner has one more year at $3.15 million and Spooner has one more year at $3.1 million (his total cap hit is $4 million but the Rangers retained $900,000 when he was traded to the Oilers).

In terms of cash, Gagner makes $3.2 million next year and Spooner would have cost them $3.1 million. So, they've added $50,000 in cap hit and $100,000 in real dollars."

The seasons not done but the chances of making the playoffs are about 2%.

Another loss......maybe they should try the sens for a scrimmage to get the feeling of actually competing.....or a local beer league team

I have always liked Gagner’s game and him coming back is definitely a bit of a feel good story but truth is his best days are behind him. Just like other players on the Edmonton roster, a lot of them wouldn’t be in the NHL if it was a 28 team league..

mcjesus will be over the hill before those idiots get it figured out......but they probably already know that. it'll be ok, 'cause they're headed for another high draft pick this year.

Is this Hitch being positive?

“Somebody is going to get seventh and eighth (place) and both teams that are in seven and eight right now are going backwards,” Hitchcock told the Edmonton Sun, pointing to the Dallas Stars and Wild. “Two teams are going to pick up here, which are the two teams?

“We know we have to go on an a run. Of all the teams around there I feel like our team is playing the best. We’re not winning, but we’re playing the best. Eventually, it’s going to have to translate into wins. You can’t keep living off of, ‘We’re playing well.’ You have to take the next step, but five of the last six games are the best we’ve played in a long time.”

Oilers are 1-6-3 in their last 10, have the worst record in the league for the last 10, Hawks are 8-2-0 and Dallas is 5-4-1, but the Oiler's are "playing the best". Sounds like someone bought in.

Yeah, I kinda don't see the reality behind that so much, either statistically, or watching them play. It was enlightening to see them play without McDavid in the lineup last night, a truer gauge of the rest of the team.
