Amythest in Jasper. Still iced over an absolute gem 6-7 hour hike.
Belly boat takes things to a whole new level.

I am hiking into Amethyst in about three weeks. It should be ice free in the next few weeks. Just so you know it is not an easy trek up there. Yes the trail is well defined but the elevation gain is massive. Straight-up for 15km then it levels out for the remainder. I hike into many lakes for fishing and the fishing is awesome here but don't count on hiking a belly boat up there unless you plan on taking two days and camping along the way.

I'm a fairly good hiker but hauling a belly boat up would suck haha. Let me know how it is in a couple weeks and might have to make a trip there in the future

I will let you know for sure. Fishing is good all season up there. If you have a few $$ to spend I can recommend an outfit that I stay with which has great meals, use of the row boats and nice comfy warm cabins

The lake doesn't open until July 1st. Access via the Astoria not recommended at this time due to rock slides
