Default MacMillan hunter edge

Hi
I'm thinking of adding the MacMillan light weight hunter edge to my Sako A-7.
Does anyone have some feedback on this stock? It's pretty pricey! is it worth it better accuracy durability? any User reports?
Thanks

I assume you are referring to the compact EDGE. I’ve had several of the compact EDGE stocks.

My only complaint is that the comb could be higher.

Turned my 30-06 Finnlight from a nasty jumper to one of the most pleasant rifles I have ever shot. This in spite of weight reduction. The rifle shoots excellent with several different brands of ammo.

Agreed. I have two and like everything else about them. McM could 'modernize' more then a few of their designs.

Default Love mine

I am very used to a more tactical feeling stick but for lightweight and hunting, it’s a hard stock to beat. I love mine on my rem 700 7-08. Great sheep rifle

Thanks for the feed back. Does anyone know the weight difference between the original stock and the compact edge?
Thanks

I did not like the edge. Sold it. Was to narrow and the grip angled to much towards the shooter. HTG is much nicer.

EDGE is the carbon fibre. It can be had in any pattern.

Exactly. I had the Edge technology in a Remington Classic stock on a long action 700. Nice stock. You can the Edge in any stock pattern that fits your rifle. If you wanted to be adventurous, choose a stock pattern, order it as a flat top, then have a gunsmith relief it and fit to your rifle. Take measurements and make sure that it will work for your rifle.

Kimber wouldn't sell me a Montana stock for my 84M Varmint and McMillan doesn't offer one. I guess MPI offered one, but I had never seen one. I took some measurements, determined that a Remington Model 7 stock was very close in size to a Montana stock. Ordered a Wildcat Model 7 stock blank. The gunsmith relieved it to fit the Kimber Varmint.

Would do it again. Both the McMillan and the Wildcat.

Default difference

Thanks for all the feedback. This helps in making the decision to or not to lay out the cash! One more question? what is the main reason you upgraded the stock on your rifle?
Thanks again!

My A7 stock was noisy/hollow sounding.......which of course it was. Not the soft touch model. Wanted lighter. The Edge is a superior stock for sure.

They are lighter, stiffer, more durable, less susceptible to the environment, and they look better. :-)

PM Todbartel on CGN. He brought the last one in for me. He is always good to deal with.
