I like that poachers are starting to be penalized more, I hope it continues and in fact even elevated. Keep em coming F&W.

"Deception was involved, and some previous history".

Not just $1500 for a short fish, $1500 for being a poacher. Good.

Lots of discretion allowed for the officer: varies between a warning, a ticket ($135'ish) or a mandatory court date.

Nice to see a decent fine. Lets hope he stays away from the lakes and rivers for that year long suspension.

All I look for is consistency not just in terms of, the next guy getting a good size fine for a short pick (obviously considering past history), butin terms of equal fine for equal crime such as a guy is caught with 30 walleye from a lake, he's staring down the barrell at $1,500 per fish.

You are famous !! ........... keep up the good work .......... we all appreciate it. There just isn't enough of you guys out there.

I am happy to see guys are getting significant fines for stuff like that. Maybe the $1500 lesson will teach him.

Just awesome!!

I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for some of these guys to work your ass off trying to catch poachers and then have the courts let a guy off with a technicality. Good to see some big dollar fines getting handed out for this crap.

I would happily sign up for a fishing license at double the price if I knew the money was going to go to effective enforcement for poaching.

good job! its not fish and widlife job to educate the public, it is your responsibility as a sportsman to read , understand and follow all regulations every year, or face the penalty if you dont. in this case it was 1500$ hopefully other people learn from his mistake
