Default Salting minnows and other fish bait

I've posted this before but had a couple people ask me how to effectively salt and preserve bait fish. I use this method. I think it works best. Others may do it differently.

I use coarse salt on minnows and smelts.

Smelts are a lot better once I toughen them up with salt.

Covering with water afterward stops them from freezer burning as well.

(Bait fish ban on Lake X btw)
