That was my call as well. Glad to have a second opinion though.

I've looked in the same spot for a few years as well with no success.
A bit later in the season, you should be able to find some Bollette's in the thick stuff around there.
I don't think you're allowed to harvest in a Provincial Park though, but I'm not entirely sure. anecdotally, I recall a friend being reprimanded by a ranger picking berries in that same area years ago.

This is one reason why I am generally opposed to Provincial parks....

However, the rule is that you CAN pick mushrooms and berries in a Provincial park, with permission from a conservation officer. You have to ask first.

Such a silly rule....

Will the morels continue popping if it's raining steadily, or will the temps cool enough to stifle them? Lakeland area.

I’ve never picked morels before but stumble upon these while checking my trail cameras. They look like black morels too me, but an opinion from someone who knows what’s what would be appreciated.

Yes they are morels. Definitely worth picking.

Awesome! Thank-you for confirming, I found about 30-40 of them in this spot, looking forward to them

And in a couple weeks you can go back and pick the wild strawberries I see in the picture.

I figured with Calgary's spring being slow to warm up, I'd wait a bit longer than usual to look for morels.

Sure enough, on the 9th I went out and found a pile that were all brand new, 4-5 pounds, no old ones.
Went again yesterday and found another pile, 5-6 pounds, almost all brand new. Should be good for another week.
They sure are big this year, 4-8" tall on average.

There are a couple dozen golden morels in this pic, before and after clearing away the grass.
