Default Selling unrestricted long guns need to call Miriamichi?

I was led to believe, that sellers/buyers of unrestricted long guns, now must call Miriamichi to verify the validity of the other persons PAL.
Is that true?

I think the buyer and the seller need to call in and get transfer numbers or something.
Let's see who actually does...

The complete process can be done online. Each party provides their respective details (PAL number, email address on file etc ...), then each receives a confirmation email.

I do mine online. Just need buyer PAL, DOB, and email that they used for their PAL info.

Once you sign in, you add their info, and instantly get a verification. (if all good on the buyer end). You both get an email right away.

Really a hassle free exercise so far on the few I've done, and the few I've purchased since.

Might be painless, but what is the actual point of it? Where is the value added for this?

Default Transferring non-restricted firearms

Contrary to all the doom and gloom we heard about when this new process was announced. When you go on line you are simply verifying the validity of the purchasers PAL. Took about 5 mins and I and the buyer had an email with a reference number authorizing the transfer.

No request for any firearms info or how many you are transferring.

They appear to be trying to ensure you are selling to someone with a valid PAL.

They do suggest that when dealing with someone you won't meet that you do a zoom conference or such so you know that the person purchasing the firearm is the same person on the PAL.

In the past I had a potential buyer provide me with a picture of the PAL but something was off so I looked up the individual on facebook and contacted them only to find there PAL and Drivers License had been stolen. The ZOOM call would have confirmed I was dealing with the actual PAL owner.
