Default Making wood arrows

Would like to get into making my own Wood arrows. Would something like this work? Or what do you guy's who make your own arrows use?

I have been just buying hardwood dowels and using a homemade spine tester to sort them.

I like doing things my self and this looks like it would be good for the long winter months.

Default Wood arrows

Dowelling jigs work. Some guys start with 1/2x1/2 stock and use a hand plane and that works very well too, some of the nicest arrows I've seen are hand planed. Whatever you choose be prepared to see a huge difference in spine from piece to piece, even from the same original stock.

Default Arrows

Some guys make a jig to run the stock through their router, too. YouTube is your friend by the way.

I read an article once about making arrows and buddy was using this

http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/pag...80,42288,52401

After they were cut into dowels he was using a compression block from 3rivers archery like this

I've got both of those pieces and never got around to trying to make arrows with them. Pm me if you want to make a deal on them.
