Default NEW BOW!! Adventures in tuning begin...

picked up this beauty off the buy and sell section.... Neil, shes one of yours, i promise to treat her right. (Sorry bout the crappy iphone pic.)

2013 APA Viper Nano
axion sight and stabilizer
APA quiver
APA twister CDX rest
Wirst strap

Exactly what i wanted. So therefore i have to improve it.

Plan:
-Delete wrist strap and kisser button - Done
-Delete drop away rest, add whisker biscuit - Done
-Delete quiver (didn't like the balance when it was loaded), plan to turn it into a back carry one.
-Spec tune, this is where things get interesting. this will be my first time attempting tuning on my own, since i am able to do it without a bow press on an APA (well, that's the theory....) Things have stretched and it needs work. Anyone ever done this?
found this thread, is there anything new to add?
http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/showt...=good+bow+tech
-Serve in peep, once tuned - fly tier so i doubt that will be a problem.
Arrows i picked are Carbon Express Pile Driver Pass Through Express, hopefully paper tuning later this week

Also, the new power shot whisker biscuit sits farther away from the riser, decreasing brace height. Concern or not so much?

Scorpion Anti venom cleaner and Venom Lube - good or no?

Its almost like its hunting season right now. I love new toys

As it is a used bow, I would change out the strings. Not sure where you are out of but there are a number of good string builders in western Canada. World Best is always a good choice, if you are in southern Alberta then give Superstrings a try. For tuning advice and a general archery great read, I recommend the nuts and bolts of Archery from the AT website. Here is a link to the document:

Thanks for the links guys.

Yeah, it took 14 twists into the string (7 on each end), and two out of the cable to get the cam timing right....and it hasn't been shot much and will likely stretch more. its gonna go back to LOST for new worlds best string/cable. Ah well at least I learned how to make adjustments if I need to. Decent fun for a rainy afternoon.
